Breakdown

Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, adapted for the stage by Joseph Hanreddy and J.R. Sullivan – Dir. Kyle Donnelly

Jane Bennet – early-mid 20’s. The oldest sister and the prettiest girl in the room, quietly confident.

Elizabeth Bennet – early-mid 20’s. The heart, soul and intellect of the play. Attractive without needing to be stunningly beautiful.

Mr. Darcy – mid 20’s-mid 30’s. The dark, withheld romantic hero.

Sir William Lucas/Mr. Gardiner – Sir William Lucas: mid 40’s-late 50’s. The effusive and gentile father of Charlotte Lucas. Has good humour and is well aged but still attractive. Mr. Gardiner: 45-mid 50’s. A country man who loves to fish and travel.

Lady Lucas/Mrs. Gardiner – Lady Lucas: 40-late 50’s. The loyal wife of Sir Lucas. Not the brightest bulb but sincere and transparently crafty. Mrs. Gardiner: 40-mid 50’s. Effusive and eager. In awe of the rich but doesn’t wish for an aristocratic life.

Charlotte Lucas/Mrs. Reynolds – Charlotte Lucas: 20’s-early 30’s. Friend of the Bennett sisters. Ordinary but smart, sweet. Mrs. Reynolds: 30’s-50. The loyal housekeeper of Mr. Darcy.
