SYNOPSIS: In the early 1950s, a small-town DJ named Allen Freed became the biggest name in American music. His color-blind love for music and musicians triggered the beginning of desegregation on the airwaves and beyond. ROCK & ROLL MAN takes place during a fever dream in which J Edgar Hoover (as prosecutor) and Little Richard (as defense attorney) square off in a fantasy courtroom putting Freed’s legacy on trial. The show incorporates a driving and electrifying original score, as well as over 25 legendary rock and roll hits by artists including Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, LaVern Baker, and Buddy Holly, many of whom also appear as characters in the musical.

[QUARTET MEMBERS and AS CAST] male, black, 20s-50s. Strong and versatile, with expert harmony and stylistic abilities - doo-wop and group singing experience is a major plus, as well as a strong movement background.
