Seeking:
Mark Rothko:
Ideally in his 50s, but could be a little younger or older. Charismatic. A formidable intellect, a towering, self-absorbed ego, emotionally guarded yet deeply vulnerable, avoids intimacy with others, a dismissive cruelty at times, deeply protective of and in love with his paintings. Not a practicing Jew, but his religious background defines him both personally and culturally.
Ken:
In his 20s. An aspiring painter. Very bright with alot still to learn. A watcher and listener, he quietly absorbs everything from his mentor/teacher until one day he finally releases his pent-up observations and resentments toward Rothko. An orphan since the age of seven, when he discovered the bodies of his murdered parents, he is very private but not at all self-pitying.He finds an uneasy surrogate father in Rothko. A wry sense of humor. He is capable of giving as good as he gets and is not afraid of challenging Rothko. He has a strong bullshit detector.
