LOCATION
s.SEEKING:
[BOB WALLACE] He/him. Late 20s - late 40s. Any race or ethnicity. A superb singer with a crooning style who moves very well. A major singing star, Bob is the guiding force behind the song and dance team of Wallace and Davis. Underneath his smooth and driven exterior, there is a warm power in his loving and vulnerable soft underbelly - but that is not a safe-feeling place always for him to go. A veteran who served with Phil and General Waverly in Germany, ten years later there is still a kind of engine that has kept Bob from reckoning with all that has happened, all that he may want to happen in his future. Baritone. This role requires brief moments of physical intimacy.
[PHIL DAVIS] He/him. Late 20s - late 40s. Any race or ethnicity. A song-and-dance comic performer with a big heart and irrepressible appetite for life. He is the joyful puppy dog dazzled by the world and partner of the team of Wallace and Davis. He gets swept off his feet so often he is only now reckoning with his desire to find, perhaps, a true romantic partner in his life’s journey. He is an irrepressible clown who is struck silly by wonder at any minute, accidentally smooth at times and tender but obvious when it comes to being an operator. Determined to see his friend happy, he is willing to resort to scheming and outright deception, if necessary, all for the occasional chance to relax himself and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with his feet up. Phil is also a veteran who served in the war with Bob under General Henry Waverly and holds these leading men in high regard- perhaps this service serves to encourage him to live life to the fullest each day. Bari-Tenor. Strong jazz and tap-dancing needed. This role requires brief moments of physical intimacy.
[BETTY HAYNES] She/her. Mid 20s – mid 40s. Any race or ethnicity. A femme singer of subtle and profound vocal beauty, a natural leader and moral compass of a leading lady, undeniably oozing with charm. Her power, perhaps, is what has led her and Judy into their successes but may be keeping intimidated romantic partners equivocating… which she has no time for. The more logic-worshiping, sensible, and responsible half of the up-and-coming song-and-dance team, The Haynes Sisters. Destined to be a star in her own right, she is nonetheless hesitant to take the spotlight for herself given her deep love for her sister and, perhaps, the desire to not stand alone in perpetuity in this life. Rich Chest Mix with Soprano Extension. Must move well. This role requires brief moments of physical intimacy.
[JUDY HAYNES] She/her. Early 20s - early 40s. Any race or ethnicity. A major song-and-dance performer. The younger, more ambitious, grab life by the horns no matter what it takes Haynes sister. Judy is a formidable force who longs to see her “mother hen” of an elder sister happy and in many ways acts as a kind of agent to ensure her and her sister make their mark on this male-driven world. Judy knows how to navigate this world to get what she wants and needs out of it - but is occasionally surprised for better or worse by the other humans who populate it. She is not swept off but joyfully flies from the soles of her feet with every move she makes. Chest Mix. Strong jazz and tap-dancing needed. This role requires brief moments of physical intimacy.
[MARTHA WATSON] She/her. Mid 40s - mid 60s. Any race or ethnicity. Once a Broadway star, now the general’s manager at the Inn in Vermont. Who knows exactly what brought her here, but Martha’s bone dry, wry, wisecracking sense of humor and legacy of extraordinary adventures in love and life make her a natural confidante, mentor, and incidental meddler. Big-hearted but completely unsentimental, she runs the General’s life in spite of his protestations. Clarion Belt Voice.
