BREAKDOWN

Seeking:

[SANAM SHAH] (Female, 29-30, East Indian) She is from India, and is an applied mathematician on the cusp of graduating from a PhD program in ecology. Brilliant and dedicated, highly confident in her work, less confident in realms outside of it. Her sense of values and morality are central to how she views herself and her work. Her speech is accented.

[ARIEL SPIEGEL] (Female, 33-34) A PhD ecology researcher and a single mom. Witty, highly intelligent, driven, and giving. Has an underlying insecurity about her background and some shame around how things have shaken out in her life, but she compensates for this with extraordinary preparation and a willingness to please others.

[ARVING PATEL] (Male, Late-30s, Indian-American) A financier from New York. Indian American and a potential suitor for Sanam. Knows who he is and what he wants, and is unapologetic about both. Appreciates the finer things in life. Might come off a bit machismo, but has a surprising tenderness and vulnerability.

[DR. PHILIP HAYES] (Male, Late 40s/Early 50s) Ariel and Sanam's supervising professor. Smart and strategic. Charming and tactful, he has a way of convincing people to fulfill his agenda while making it all seem like a friendly and pleasant conversation. He's very used to getting what he wants.
