Rehearsals begin August 28. No rehearsals the first week of September.
Rehearsals resume the last 3 weeks of September. Rehearsals will be within Mon-Fri 10-3.

Tech Rehearsal: October 2 from 1:15 to 6:15pm
Performances: October 2 @ 6:15pm, October 6 @ 8:30pm, October 7 @ 1pm - Sunday

BREAKDOWN

PATRICK AKA PAD (late 20s, ages from 11-28) No matter how hard he tries, he is looked at as the loser. Wishes he was Michael. Also wishes that Michael loved him. Finds solace in his friendship with Pen. Loves to read and write. Puts his self worth into his writing. Awkward. Skinny. His personality defines his looks. Huge range, powerful voice, strong actor.

PENELOPE AKA PEN (late 20s, ages from 11-28) Marches to her own drum. Desperately wants a best friend. Wants to create and control a fantasty world with only her best friend where no one’s mean and she doesn’t have an abusive parent to deal with. High belter.

MICHAEL AKA MIKE (late 20s, ages from 11-28) Popular, handsome, smart, good at sports, winning smile. Suffering inside and wishing he could be someone else. Tenor. Strong singer and actor.

CASSANDRA AKA CASSIE (late 20s, ages from 11-28) Most popular girl in school. Holds herself to impossible standards to try to be just like her late mother was at her age. Pop soprano.

SANDRA AKA SIDEKICK (late 20s, ages from 11-28) Cassie’s best friend. Pretty but not as much as Cassie. A little dumpy. Heart of gold. Wishes she was Cassie. Alto/Mezzo Can hold onto tight harmonies.

CECIL AKA SEESAW (late 20s, ages from 11-28) The follower. As the only Black kid in school, he blends in better than anyone. Can do an authentic Carribean accent. Can hold onto tight harmonies. Strong actor and singer.

LILY AKA BULLY (late 20s, ages from 11-28) Has a thyroid problem so she is noticably heavier than the others. This builds her tough, cranky exterior. Inside, she is a sweet little girl who secretly does and loves ballet and wishes she was like the popular girls. Can do basic ballet with confidence and fluidity. Can hold onto tight harmonies. Strong belter with starkly different light, sweet, headvoice.

MRS. E / SIDEKICK'S MOM: (One actor to play both)
Female, early 50s. MRS. E (ages from 60-78), also plays SIDEKICK’S MOM (mid 40s) As Mrs. E — strong singer and actress. Cares fiercely about her students and will do all she can in the time that she has with each student to help them as best she can. She remains on the playground past retirement age to fight the good fight. High mix belt with soprano.

MR. ELMANO / CASSIE’S DAD / PEN’S FATHER (One actor to play to all roles)
Male, 40s-early 60s — Actor must be capable of a playing an abusive monster as well as dads who, despite their good intentions are doing their children more harm than good. Tall, somewhat muscular build. Solid actor, strong baritone.
