BREAKDOWN
PANELISTS
by Sofia Alvarez:
First Rehearsal as early as: Thursday, June 27, 2019
Presentation/Closing: Tuesday, July 2, 2019
JILLIAN, female, 30's - She is bi-racial (white mother, black father). Fit and high strung. She works as a screenwriter in Hollywood on studio movies. Single.
ALEX, male, 30's - White, Jewish. Playwright. Doesn't have a lot of money but cobbles together a living solely as a writer in a way that no one really understands. He has a current amount of prestige because of his last play which was nominated for a Pulitzer. Has a twenty-five year old girlfriend.
HOWARD, male, 40's, African-American. Recently wrote a well-received historical novel. Also writes for other publications. He is not famous but has made a nice name for himself in certain circles. Married to Geoffrey, his long time partner.
MANDY, female, late 30's - early 40's. White, slightly overweight. Playwright. Her father is a famous novelist. She also works solely as a writer but unlike Alex, everyone understands how. She is married to Jerome. They have two young children. None of whom are ever seen.
SUSANNAH, female, 30's - Korean-American. She lives on a farm and is totally off the grid. No social media, no nothing. She probably doesn't even have a TV. In five years she will probably release a Donna Tartt like masterpiece that will surprise some and be no surprise whatsoever to others. She never talks about writing and never competes. She probably has a partner, but just like writing she never talks about him or her.
