YOU’RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN Score/Book: Clark Gesner. Dir and Mus Dir TBA. 1st reh: 1/30/12. Runs 2/21 – 3/20/12.

Charlie Brown:

Lovable loser; a child possessed of endless determination and hope, but who is ultimately dominated by his insecurities and a “permanent case of bad luck”. Often taken advantage of by his peers.

Lucy Van Pelt:

Crabby, bossy and cynical eight-year-old girl; often bullies the other characters, particularly Linus and Charlie Brown. Always speaks her mind while being brutally honest. Linus’s older sister.

Linus Van Pelt:

Though young, Linus is unusually smart, and he acts as the group philosopher and theologian. He relies heavily on a blanket used as security but also reminds others of his age.

Sally Brown:

Charlie Brown’s younger sister. Has a “take it easy” approach to life, preferring to slide by while doing as little work as possible. Can be stubborn sometimes, and is usually convinced she's right until someone proves her wrong, but also has a good heart and a strong moral sense. Like her older brother, she is extremely sensitive to the unfairness of life.

Schroeder:

He is distinguished by his precocious skill at playing the toy piano, as well as by his love of classical music and the composer Ludwig van Beethoven in particular. He is also the object of the unrequited infatuation of Lucy.

Snoopy:

Imaginative young dog; his imagination can transform the room. Though he is a dog, he is arguably the most dynamic character in the Peanuts universe.

Mid 30s woman. Seductive, and can easily persuade any man. Actress in this track she plays all the female roles.

Clown 1 and Clown 2:

Both actors play a large number of different characters, each with his/her own personality. These tracks require the ability to change in a heartbeat.

Andrew Wyke:

57. Strongly built. Very intelligent, very well spoken. Successful and acclaimed writer. Interested in games; lives his life as if it were one.

Audrey II:

The Venus Flytrap from space. Has a hunger for human flesh. Manipulated by a puppeteer.

Anthony Cavendish:

Fanny’s son. Over-the-top and extravagant. Flamboyant, swashbuckling box-office sensation. Broadway star who has allowed Hollywood to lure him from the stage.

Herbert Dean:

About 57. Fanny’s son to Fanny. Talented actor, without any work. Determined to get a role by any means. He and wife Kitty are a squabbling pair who try to outdo each other with aggrandized memories of past Broadway roles.

Kitty Dean:

Late 40s. Herbert’s wife. An actress, although not as talented as the other actresses in the family. She and husband Herbert are a squabbling pair who try to outdo each other with aggrandized memories of past Broadway roles.
