BREAKDOWN

NOTHING LIKE BROADWAY!

NOTE FROM CASTING: “Nothing Like Broadway!” is a brand new, original musical. There are only four parts, so everyone has lots of opportunities to show off (including several solos and duets each). It is a musical comedy, rooted in real emotion. The show needs smart, creative actors who can enthusiastically each carry the show, and create a personal relationship with the audience. We will not be using body mics, so big voices are a plus! Some improv experience is helpful, but not required.

SEEKING:

Pianist - The actual pianist for our show. In the world of the show, the Pianist is the grumpy owner of the theater who has a few mumbled lines, and gets kidnapped and interrogated onstage by the other cast members.

Milo - Sweet, schlubby hangdog guy who runs the lights (but ends up being our hero, and a star!). He is the main character. Someone who can earn the audience’s sympathy. Late 20’s to 45. Baritone.

Annabelle - Well-bred, warm, smart. Lots of monologues to the audience. Must win us over (before she ends up revealing that she is (spoiler!) the villain of the show!). A serious, nuanced actor who can also sing. Late 20’s to 45. Sweet soprano with a secret belt/mix.

Kishka - Dominating lascivious Russian spy posing as a sexy cabaret singer. Can work a crowd. A major role for a major performer. Is often charmingly abusive to the audience. Someone with the confidence and talent to steal a show. Mid 20’s to 50. Powerful belt/mix alto/mezzo voice.

Bixby - Very handsome, supremely confident. Posh British. He is like James Bond, but sweeter and way less competent. Can handle a patter song, and melt your heart with his legit tenor. Late 20s to 45. Legit tenor.
