THE GARBOLOGISTS - character descriptions as detailed by Lindsay Joelle

by Lindsay Joelle, Directed by Cody Estle

Dates:

1st Preview - 9/1/2022

Opening - 9/9/2022

Closing - 10/2/2022

Extension Closing - 10/9/2022

SEEKING:

MARLOWE — Female (she/her). Late 30s to mid 40s. Black. First week at DSNY. Confident and competent, both physically and mentally. Keen sense of wit and irony. Vivid inner life: even when silent, her face speaks volumes. Practiced in making you to think she's got it all together, but she's guarding a secret she doesn't wear on her sleeve.

DANNY — Male (he/him). Mid to late 40s. White. Nine years at DSNY. Mansplaining, dad jokes, and run-of-the-mill machismo thinly mask a profound desire to love and be loved. With less wear-and-tear, he might be attractive—ruggedly handsome, even—but you'd swallow hot coals before saying that to his face.

GEORGIANA AND KITTY: CHRISMAS AT PEMBERLY (Rolling World Premiere) - character descriptions as detailed by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon

by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon, Directed by Marti Lyons

Dates:

1st Rehearsal - 11/1/2022

Opening - 12/2/2022

Closing - 12/24/2022

Extension Closing - 1/1/2023 or 1/8/2023 TBD

SEEKING:

GEORGIANA DARCY - extraordinarily shy, an accomplished pianist, romantic but super hesitant after her experience with Wickham. She is an introvert but lives a full life in the letters she writes and the music she plays. Very like her brother in some ways, she can be stubborn and a bit of a grudge holder.

KITTY BENNET - a ray of sunshine, the perfect best friend and wing man, she is supportive, optimistic and a problem solver. Without the influence of Lydia, she is more grounded and generous. She is the mastermind behind Georgiana’s future.

ELIZABETH DARCY - loves all of her sisters but loves Georgiana like a combo of sister and mom. Brings Georgiana out in a way that Darcy tends to shut her down.

LYDIA WICKHAM - a little extra but has gained some wisdom. Now that she is suddenly without a husband, she is looking for a companion again, only to find Kitty unavailable. She is trouble when she has too much unstructured time on her hands. (doubles as SARAH)

JANE BINGLEY - Eldest and most reserved sister of the Bennets. Married to Bingley and very pregnant with her first child. Kind, generous, soft spoken. (doubles as EMILY)

MARY BENNET - Middle sister, brainy, and extremely recently engaged to Arthur de Bourgh. (doubles as MARGARET)

HENRY GREY - Georgiana's beau - also remarkably shy and an introvert, but of incredible sincerity and intellect. Henry is unassuming, possibly to a fault, and is unaware that he is the hero of the story.

THOMAS O’BRIEN - Henry’s friend, a little bawdy and a little jolly, says exactly what's on his mind, does not have much time for polite society but is so good natured that everyone kind of loves him.

FITZWILLIAM DARCY - proud but finding his warmth, does not forgive easily, perhaps slightly over-protective of his little sister.

SARAH DARCY - Lizzy and Darcy's daughter. She is serious like her father and exuberant like her mother, friendly and opinionated. (doubles as LYDIA)

EMILY GREY - Henry Grey's daughter. Sweet, earnest, deeply devoted to her father, and self-possessed. (doubles as JANE)

MARGARET O’BRIEN - Kitty and Thomas’s daughter. Bubbly, busy, and incredibly empathetic just like her father, a thoughtful caretaker like her mother. (doubles as MARY)

MIRA - 26, Bi-racial Korean/Caucasian- an intelligent and ebullient young woman whose life has been interrupted by the pandemic. She plays Classical violin. Because of her boyfriend, Beckett’s, influence and enthusiasm, she has recently begun to play Old Time American fiddle music again, as she did as a young girl in North Carolina. (ALREADY CAST)

BECKETT - 26, Caucasian- a kind and quirky young man from New England who has the simultaneous air of being ahead of his time as well as being from a time before his own. His excitement for American Folk Music and his academic research have brought them to Windy Hill, North Carolina. He is proficient on mandolin and guitar and plays this style of music very well. (ALREADY CAST)

EDGAR - 75, Caucasian- a taciturn and circumspect widower who has lived the last eighteen years alone near Windy Hill. He is a Vietnam veteran, an electrician by trade, and Mira’s grandfather. He has been, for all his life, a player of Traditional, Old Time and Bluegrass music, and when he gets going, the sparkling performer and storyteller shines through. He plays banjo, guitar, dulcimer and harmonica. (ALREADY CAST)
