DONNA (early 40s – the mother of a 20 year old girl)
Attractive and free-spirited. A former lead singer in a group called “Donna and the Dynamos” who now owns and runs a hotel/casino on a Greek island. A strong feminist who also has a zany and vulnerable side.
SOPHIE (20) Born and Raised on the island.
A very special young woman who is determined to find the romance and happiness she feels eluded her mother. Has a wild, zany spirit even though she pursues a conventional marriage. Pop soprano. ROLE IS CAST
TANYA (late 30s-early 40s)
A former singer in the “Dynamos”. Rich, sophisticated, acerbic, funny, and witty. ROLE IS CAST
ROSIE (late 30s-early 40s)
Also a former singer in the “Dynamos”. She’s confident, strong, and funny on the outside but shy underneath. Kooky and fun, good comic actress, bit of a clown. Actress who sings. ROLE IS CAST
SAM (40s)
May be Sophie’s father. Left Donna 20 years ago because he was engaged to another woman. Charming. Actor who sings. Baritone. ROLE IS CAST
HARRY (40s)
May be Sophie’s father. British financier, wealthy, buttoned-up, and conservative but trying to reconnect with his freer, youthful self. Also an actor who sings. High baritone, tenor. ROLE IS CAST
BILL (40s)
May be Sophie’s father. A travel writer with no possessions or strings. Good-natured, always ready for adventure. Funny, preferably a big or imposing man. ROLE IS CAST
SKY (20s)
Sophie’s fiance. Athletic, attractive. Featured Ensemble role. ROLE IS CAST

20-25, FEMALE; A spunky, modern woman trying to make it in New York City. She falls in love with Jimmy. Must sing and dance very well.
JIMMY SMITH
20-30, MALE; A suave city slicker who unexpectedly becomes the story's hero. He falls in love with Millie. Must sing and dance very well.
MISS DOROTHY BROWN
20-25, FEMALE; A naive, wealthy girl who has moved to New York to change her lifestyle. She becomes Millie's roommate and confidant. Must sing and dance very well.
MUZZY VAN HOSSMERE
Ageless, FEMALE; A glamorous actress and singer at a night club. She becomes Millie's friend and mentor.
TREVOR GRAYDON
30-40, MALE; Handsome, an executive at the Sincere Trust Insurance Company. He is sharp, ambitious, and secretly romantic.
MISS FLANNERY
35-50, FEMALE; An uptight, stern office manager. She runs the stenographer pool at Sincere Trust Insurance Company.
MRS. MEERS
45-55, FEMALE; A former actress turned human trafficker pretending to be a kindly Chinese woman. She oversees the Hotel Priscilla where she secretly sells her tenants.
BON FU
Chinese immigrant working to bring his mother to the United States. Older brother of Ching Ho and henchman to Mrs. Meers. Sings and speaks in Chinese.
CHING HO
A Chinese immigrant working to bring his mother to the United States. Younger brother of Bun Foo and henchman to Mrs. Meers. Sings and speaks in Chinese.

CINDERELLA

ELLA (CINDERELLA) is a young lady with the kindest heart in the kingdom. She dreams of escaping her endless chores so she might one day see the world. A beautiful ingenue with passion and dreams. Fantastic singer/actor with strong comedic timing. Dance experience desired.
MADAME is Ella’s stepmother, a vain and tyrannical woman only concerned with her wealth and her daughters’ happiness. Madame does not consider Ella, her stepdaughter, a true daughter. Very strong character actress with excellent comedic timing.
PRINCE TOPHER is the Prince of the entire kingdom, but he needs a bit of guidance and inspiration to realize his full potential.
SEBASTIAN is Topher’s Lord Chancellor. Although Sebastian wants to protect the Prince, he does so by improperly shielding the Prince completely from what is going on in the kingdom.
LORD PINKLETON is Sebastian’s second-in- command and the herald for all important events.
MARIE enters the story as a senile poor woman, but she magically transforms into her true form as Ella’s wise and compassionate Fairy Godmother.
JEAN-MICHEL is a poor revolutionary with many ideas about how to improve society. Jean- Michel is in love with Gabrielle.
GABRIELLE begins the story as just another selfish stepsister but finds camaraderie in Ella when she reveals to Ella that she would give up her riches to be with Jean-Michel.
CHARLOTTE is Ella’s other stepsister, who treats Ella cruelly but, quite honestly, doesn’t know much better because she is so self-involved. Charlotte’s a bit of a clown and definitely the last one in on the joke.

BUDDY HOLLY - Male, Caucasian, 18-30
singer-songwriter and star from Lubbock, Texas. Buddy is intelligent, charismatic, 6 ft' or over. Must play guitar, sing and act and have a feel for rock ‘n’ roll. Some serious star potential, must have a desire to live as a rock ‘n’ roll superstar every night.
RITCHIE VALENS - Male, Latino / Hispanic, 18-25
good-looking, attractive, handsome boy with serious charisma, a dedicated eye for the ladies, and the ability to hold the stage in his own right. His key song is “La Bamba.” Must be able to act and the ability to play a musical instrument an advantage but not prohibitive.
J.P. RICHARDSON--THE BIG BOPPER - Male, 18-64
a former DJ, he is a Texan with an irrepressible larger than-life character. 6' or taller, with the ability to command the stage on his own as a single performer. His key song is “Chantilly Lace.” Must be able to act and the ability to play a musical instrument an advantage but not prohibitive.
JOE B. MAULDIN - Male, 18-30
Double bass player from Lubbock, Texas. Serious, square young man with musical ability. Must be able to sing and act.
JERRY ALLISON - Male, 18-30
Drummer from Lubbock, Texas. Good looking, irrepressible cheeky guy with musical ability. Must be able to sing and act.
MARIA ELENA HOLLY - Female, Latino / Hispanic, 18-25
Attractive, classy and well-educated. Must be able to sing and act. The ability to play any instrument would be a huge plus.
HIPOCKETS DUNCAN - Male, 18-40
An exuberant hometown radio DJ from Lubbock, Texas, with an air of authority and a keen sense of humor. Must be able to sing and have the ability to play a musical instrument.
NORMAN PETTY - Male, 18-40
A record producer from Clovis, New Mexico, with a businesslike manner and a love of making records. Must be able to sing and have the ability to play a musical instrument.
VI PETTY - Female, 18-40
The wife of Norman with a heart of gold. Vi must be able to sing and act, and have exceptional rock ‘n’ roll keyboards ability, with a good sense of humor.
THE COMPANY - All Genders, 18-30
Singer/musicians, mostly under 25 years of age. Must be able to sing and have ability to play a multitude of roles and musical instruments. The show will be defined around the talent which is available and cast. Experience and training are not necessary but musical ability is a prerequisite for this show. Will also understudy principal roles below.
APOLLO PERFORMER 1 - Male, Black / African Descent, 18-64
Ability to hold the stage on his own. Key song “Party.” Must have good comic timing and be able to act, and have the ability to play a musical instrument. Special chorus part.
