Note on casting: Until such time as this disclaimer becomes unnecessary, we want to make clear that gender descriptions below are inclusive of actors from all gender identities who can embody these characters.

CUPID –20’s – 30’s. The God of Love. A Latinx woman ready to give up after many years of being disappointed by failures of the loves she creates. A bitter, fierce exterior that hides a great deal of sensitivity. Incredibly heartbroken and tired. Speaks both English and Spanish.

VALENTINE- 20’s – 30’s. The Patron Saint of Love. Appears as any ethnicity, slightly younger than Cupid. Her old lover, he is joyous, a rascal--more of a trickster than a saint. He has an affable energy that hides a serious core.

The LOVERS

BENNY RANDLE- mid 20’s. Black and queer, Benny avoids the difficult questions by putting on a façade of ridiculousness and fabulousness. He is intuitive, flighty, and emotionally messy, but proves to have a reliable and strong heart. Lover to Alejandro. Role requires nudity onstage.

ALEJANDRO DIAZ- mid 30’s. Latinx and queer, Alejandro runs from anything that can hurt him. Slightly pessimistic, sensible almost to a fault, and as steady as water and just as stubborn, he has a lonely soul that craves connection. Lover to Benny. Role requires nudity onstage. Speaks both English and Spanish.

The DENTAL HYGIENIST

BETTI- in her 30’s. A woman of color (character is any ethnicity but white), Betti is the child of immigrants and a dental hygienist. Incredibly sad, incredibly eager, she has an innocent spirit that is hungry for companionship and meaning. She is looking for something new in her life.
