Breakdown
In 1656, Amsterdam has given special asylum to the Jewish community. The major governing rule is: no Jew may speak of religion to any local resident. Baruch Spinoza’s radical beliefs on God and religion draw him into a riveting trial that irrevocably challenges Western thought. Rehearsals Begin Monday December 12, 2011. Rehearsal schedule is Monday through Friday nights 7:00-11:00 PM (with additional hours during tech week) and Saturdays (7 out of 8 ½ hours /times to be determined). [Note: There will be no rehearsals on December 24 or December 25] Performances Are Thursday, January 5, 2012 through Sunday, January 29, 2019 at Stage West, 821 W Vickery. [Note: performances will be Thur nights at 7:30, Fri & Sat nights at 8:00 and Sun matinees at 3:00. Roles: >Abraham Van Valkenburgh, a regent of Amsterdam, 45 >Gaspar Rodrigues Ben Israel, a parnas of Talmud Torah, perhaps 50 >Baruch De Spinoza, a merchant of Amsterdam, 23 >Simon De Vries, a painter, 23 >Clara Van Den Enden, a music teacher, 20 >Rebekah De Spinoza, Baruch’s half-sister, 26 (The role of Saul Levi Mortera is precast) EMC points may be received for non-equity performers. Non-equity performers are paid for rehearsals and performances.
