Please note that all characters are meant to be played by adults
1. PARVANEH. 4, Iranian, female-presenting, a curious child, lover of music and butterflies. (seeking understudy only)
2. HUSSEIN. Iranian, male-presenting, Parvaneh’s life-sized toy dog, her protector, confidant and best friend.
3. JAVAD. 8, Iranian, male-presenting, the youngest child in his family, Parvaneh’s best neighbor friend.
4. MAMAN/NEWS REPORTER. Maman: Iranian, female presenting, Parvaneh’s mother, a beautiful and warm off-stage voice, role includes some singing. News Reporter: An agent of the outside world.
5. BABA/SADDAM HUSSEIN. Baba: Iranian, male-presenting, Parvaneh’s father, a calming off-stage presence. Saddam Hussein: circa 1980’s Iraqi dictator and Parvaneh’s secret friend. The presenter of gifts.
