BREAKDOWN

STORYLINE:

It's 1920's London and a murderer is on the loose, killing innocent young women. Daisy, an aspiring young actress and her aunt, struggling to make ends meet, take in a mysterious lodger. Will the murderer be caught before it is too late?

Seeking:

[RONNIE] - (Any Ethnicity, Any Gender, 20's-40's) Our host for the evening. An obsessive present-day mystery devotee and aspiring podcast host. A fountain of information. Someone who is not afraid to ask the hard (or awkward) questions. Must feel comfortable improvising banter with the audience. Non-binary and trans actors particularly encouraged to submit for this role.

[DAISY] - (Female, Any Ethnicity, Mid 20's to mid 30's) British. Speaks with an RP accent. An ingenue in 1920s London. Smart, opinionated, and a consummate showgirl. Needs to feel comfortable with cabaret-style singing and dancing. Should also be comfortable with some light improvisation. Actresses who are unconventional for an ingenue role particularly encouraged to submit.

[MRS. B] - (Female, Any Ethnicity, 50's-60's) British. Speaks with an RP accent. Daisy’s aunt. Kind, cautious, slightly daffy. Poverty and fear for her niece's safety lead her to open up her house to lodgers in 1920s London. Should be comfortable with some light improvisation.

[MR. SLEIGH] - (Male, White, 40's to 50's) British. Speaks with an RP accent. Our titular lodger, who comes to live with Mrs. B & Daisy. Odd. Sensitive. Usually acts like a gentleman but prone to bouts of religious fervor. Has an air of mystery about him.

[JOE CHANDLER] - (Male, Any Ethnicity, 30's) British. Speaks with a Cockney accent. An affable, but entirely over-eager detective in 1920s London. Takes a particular interest in Daisy and her well being. Dedicated to his profession and willing to do what is necessary to catch the killer, even if that means using unconventional methods.
