This production is to be set in 1930’s Cuba.

Seeking actors of all ethnicities for all roles (please submit only if you are right for one of these roles, and you are free to work throughout the contract dates):

Don Pedro:

40s-50s. Regal leading man-type. Virtuous and kind-hearted duke; can be easily deceived by those he trusts. Has a bit of a randy side.

Don John:

Early 30s-40s. Duplicitous villain. Marxist revolutionary in 1930s Cuba.

Claudio:

20s. Romantic lead. Military officer. Actor should be able to sing.

Benedick:

40s. Proclaimed bachelor and military officer. Must have great verbal ability and wit.

Leonato:

50s+. Noble and principled. Father figure. Prosperous landowner and sugar-cane farmer.

Antonio:

60s+. Brother and counselor to Leonato.

Dogberry:

Any age. Messina’s bumbling constable. A fool.

Verges:

Any age. Dogberry’s second-in-command. Resigned to constantly cleaning up after his boss.

First Watch:

20s. Civilian watchman of the town. Singing ability a plus.

Conrad:

Late 20s-30s. Friend of Don John. A bit of a henchman. Mostly brawn, little brain.

Boracchio:

Late 20s-30s. Friend of Don John. A bit of a henchman, Mostly brain, little brawn. Actor must be a good dancer, Latin styles a plus.

Hero:

Woman, 20s. Young romantic lead. Innocent and naïve. Bright and pure. Playful.

Margaret:

20s. Hero’s lady-in-waiting. Means well, but puts out. Actress must be a good dancer, Latin styles preferred.

Ursula:

30s/40s. Another lady-in-waiting. Conniving and playful.

Balthasar:

20s/30s. Comrade of Don Pedro. A solider. Actor must play guitar and sing beautifully.
