Equity actors for roles in MEAT SUIT, OR THE SHITSHOW OF MOTHERHOOD (see breakdown).
ALL ROLES WILL BE UNDERSTUDIED

Seeking an ensemble of 5 actors of diverse ethnic backgrounds, ages and body types, each to play multiple roles. The play blends bouffon-inspired physicality, sharp satire and absurdity. Beneath the bedlam and humor, Meat Suit confronts a deeper theme: how every birth may trigger a quiet death of a mother’s autonomy, sense of self, and personal desire, and how much of the identity of the person they once were survives.

Please prepare the sides for the character you are interested in. Sides will be available on the morning of the audition at the audition site.

BREAKDOWN

Seeking an ensemble of 5 actors of diverse ethnic backgrounds, ages and body types, each to play multiple roles. The play blends bouffon-inspired physicality, sharp satire and absurdity. MOTHER 1

Multiple roles, including Krystal (30-60’s). Krystal is a fabulous polyamorous millennial, working in some creative corporate environment. She is always on time or early, and highly organized. She organizes her friends’ outings. Let’s face it, she’s super hot and very together. Transforms into a mother.
PTA President (30’s – 60’s) is a mother, sadistic and controlling queen B. She loves to pit the PTA ladies against each other and demands absolute worship and adoration. ROLE IS CAST

MOTHER 2 (CHAZ, CLOWN and others)

Multiple roles including Chaz (30 – 60’s) tough and full of bravado, very sexy and has rizz, as they say. They date a lot of girls, and has a hard time staying in long-term relationships. Easily distracted. Transforms into a mother.
Clown (30’s – 60’s) is an unhinged and unfiltered mom at a PTA meeting.

MOTHER 3

Multiple roles, including Banana (30 – 60’s). A womantender and maybe a little spacey and weirdly uptight. She has a small dog who is the center of her world. Banana wants to have a boyfriend but is exhausted by the dating scene and one night stands, so she pours all of her love and energy into her dog.
Kiss (30 – 60’s), a mother, a kiss-ass who is PTA President’s right-hand-woman. ROLE IS CAST

MOTHER 4

Multiple roles including Waiter (30 – 60’s). Too cool for school, a very very hip hipster waiter. She has never thought of having a baby. She thinks that is literally the most disgusting thing in the world. Transforms into a mother.
Mr. Lim (30 – 60’s) is a very sexually active Southern gentleman who is selectively hard of hearing. He never gets upset, is always gracious and always knows how to smooth out a situation. Mr. Lim wants to hook up with Krystal.
Shaina (30-60’s) A woman who has lost sight of her lifelong goal to be an artist with a perfect work-life balance and is rudely awakened to a reality in which her twins’, husband’s, and mother’s needs come before hers and she is devoured alive by them.

MOTHER 5

Multiple roles including Momo (30’s-60’s), the first of her friend group to have a child. She has gone insane. Her body has been completely rearranged, and her innards are falling out of her crotch. She hasn’t slept or showered in days. Naturally adorable and cute, she now finds herself literally at loose ends.
Husband (30 – 60’s) is the most clueless dude you’ve ever met. He’s like a “harmless” California-type jock-y dude and classically male.
Sub (30 – 60’s), a mother, is always the butt of the PTA ladies’ jokes and taunts.
