Preparation
Please prepare 2 songs in style of show; OK to sing from show for AVENUE Q, contrasting standards (no pop or contemporary musical theatre) for OUR SINATRA. Bring sheet music in your key; an accompanist will be provided. Bring headshot and resume, stapled. Bring your music book.

Breakdown

AVENUE Q: Actors who play multiple rolls must differentiate the characters dramatically with voice and physicality. Must also be willing to learn and work with puppets in these rolls. Puppet skills not necessary but a plus.
-- Princeton/Rod- Male, 20s, Princeton is a recent college graduate, fresh-faced and sweet. Rod is a Republican investment banker and also a closeted homosexual. Must have comedic chops and sing in a contemporary musical theatre style (not legit) comfortably to a high G.
-- Brian - Male, late 20s-30s, recently unemployed, dreams of becoming a stand up comedian. Laid back, the ultimate good guy. Must have great comedic timing and a good singing voice up to an F.
-- Gary Coleman- Male or female. Former star of Diff’rent Strokes and superintendent of Avenue Q. Energetic and to-the-point. Females submitted for this role must have low alto notes and belt up to a B flat.
-- Kate Monster/Lucy – Female 20s, Kate is a kindergarten teaching assistant with big dreams, sweet, smart, sassy, really wants a boyfriend. Lucy the Slut is a nightclub lounge singer and former star of “Girls Gone Wild.” Must have comedic chops and sing in a contemporary musical theatre style (not legit) comfortably up to a D in belt/mix.
-- Nicky/Trekkie/Bad Idea Bear- Male, 20s-30s. Nicky is Rod’s slacker roommate, sweet and accepting of Rod’s sexuality.Trekkie is a porn obsessed monster with a heart of gold. The Bad Idea Bear is adorable, cuddly and encourages the residents of Avenue Q to make bad decisions. Must sing comfortably to a high A.
-- Christmas Eve- Asian female, 20s-30s, Japanese immigrant, Brian’s fiancé. Her degrees in social work make her the resident go-to-gal for advice. Must be sassy with a strong belt (up to an E flat) and ability to do a stereotypical Asian accent.
-- Mrs. Thistletwat/Bad Idea Bear/Ensemble- Mrs. T is Kate’s bitter and conservative boss. The Bad Idea Bear is cute, cuddly and influences the residents of Avenue Q to make bad decisions. Must have a strong belt voice and excellent comedic chops.

OUR SINATRA: OUR SINATRA is a musical review celebrating the life and music of Frank Sinatra. Singers must be able to swing and understand the musical phrasing style associated with this kind of music (Sinatra, Crosby, Vaughn, Fitzgerald, etc.). No contemporary Broadway or pop stylings!
-- Male Singer (25-40) Excellent band crooner, attractive, sexy, charming, witty, with experience singing standards from the 30’s, 40’s & 50’s.
-- Female Singer (25-40) Excellent band singer, attractive, sexy, charming, witty with experience singing standards from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.
-- Piano/Singer (25-50) Fun, attractive, personable, witty, extremely strong, jazz influenced. Strong interpretation of American popular standards in the style of the big band singers/crooners of the era. Able to read charts well and accompany the other singers in the show along with bass and drums. Must accompany himself in the audition.

BOEING BOEING: All roles require strong comedic chops and physical agility. Although a farce, it is critical that these people are based in reality.
-- Gloria – American Air Hostess, 25-35, upbeat, charming, practical, sure of herself, assertive, knows what she wants, a ‘player’, flies for TWA. Must be sexy and have excellent comic timing.
-- Gabriella – Italian Air Hostess, 25-35, a sultry kitten, filled with joy and passion, curvy - a la Sophia Loren. Italian accent, flies for Alitalia. Must be sexy and have excellent comic timing.
-- Gretchen – German Air Hostess, 25-35, straight forward, loyal, aggressive, filled with passion, has a strong physical presence, very tall, German accent, flies for Luftansha. Must be sexy & have excellent comic timing.
-- Bertha – French maid, 40’s-50’s, sardonic and dry, outwardly disdainful of Bernard’s arrangement but completely devoted to him. She is the engine that keeps the machine running.
-- Bernard – American architect living in Paris, 30’s, handsome, charming, a player. A sophisticated leading man, juggling 3 women and loving it.
-- Robert – Bernard's old school friend from Wisconsin, 30’s, an innocent from the Midwest. As he gets caught up in the whirlwind, he finds his inner sexy beast. This role requires physical comedy and vocal stamina and agility, a true comic tour de force.
