LOUISA GILLIS

NOTE: All four characters are well educated and quick-witted.

Celia Gillis – Early 50s, Female - She is the daughter of Grandpa and the mother of Lucy. She is pretty much an open wound: vulnerable, tortured, suffering. She's akin to some of Tennessee Williams' females, with one major exception: her wit. She can be riotously funny. She could do stand-up, if she could stay sober long enough.

Lucy Gillis – Early 20s, Female - Celia’s daughter, Grandpa's granddaughter. She is a fast-thinker with a razor sharp mind; a feisty young lady who moves through the aberrations of New York City and the aberrations of her family with sensitivity and compassion. Her basic tenet in life is the Boy Scouts' Be prepared. For whatever mom does. The only certain thing about life with her mother is uncertainty. She is in search of a future even though she is basically indentured. She loves, and serves her mother, but her anchor has always been Steven and Helga.

Helga Swenson (THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST) - Early 60s, Female - She has been Grandpa’s partner for forty years.

Grandpa (THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST) – 90, Male - A once handsome Professor of British Literature.
