Tour launches from Washington, DC on January 9, 2012 and returns on April 15, 2012.

NYC auditions will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 during the day and evening by appointment.

"Locomotion" is a Kennedy Center commission that had its world premier at the Kennedy Center in the fall of 2010. It is now set to tour the U.S. for 14 weeks, from Florida to California, Texas to New York. The play tells the story of Lonnie Collins Motion, who has so much kinetic energy that his nickname, Locomotion, is perfect. He’s seen a lot of sadness in his young life. But when he discovers a passion for writing poetry, Lonnie finally finds a way to express his feelings about his family, the fire that took his parents away, his little sister, and his world.

Young African-American male. Actor should be able to play 9 years old.

Lily / Ms. Edna / Ms. Marcus:

Female. Characters in this track are African American, with a variety of ages. Actress should be able to play 4 years old to 60 years old.
