PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The new musical comedy The Glorious Death of Comrade What's His Name follows Semyon, an unemployed grumbler during Stalin's control of the Soviet Union. Believing suicide is his only ticket to fame and glory, Semyon finds himself besieged by a band of misfits hell bent on exploiting his death to spark a rebellion and topple the Communist regime. Chaos ensues as Semyon first embraces and then tries to wriggle free of his newfound status as a hero. The musical is written by an award winning musical team from the BMI musical theatre workshop. It has had several readings at which it was wonderfully received—2 midtown Manhattan and one at Barrington Stage. Script available on request.
