BREAKDOWN

ALL characters in KINKY BOOTS must be able to execute Northampton/British accents. Most characters should be comfortable moving in heels.

All roles will be understudied.

CHARLIE PRICE: Male, late 20s - early 30s, Caucasian. Just out of university, a really nice guy who has no clue what to do with the rest of his life. He’s handsome, lovable, but there’s a temper right under the skin. Henpecked by his girlfriend and a little lost. Great rock belt to a Bb.

LOLA/SIMON: Male, early 30’s, African-American. Has the build of a boxer underneath the talent and abilities of a power Diva drag performer. Has an amazing voice that covers power blues and gospel styles with strength and feeling. Sings to a Bb. Lola dances in very high heels and so must move well with style and grace. A blend between masculinity and femininity in a powerfully strong and confident personality.

LAUREN: Female, 20s, any ethnicity. Beautiful working-class girl, who is funny, smart, practical and focused, but has had bad luck with men. A pop voice with belt and comedic abilities.

NICOLA: Female, 20s, Caucasian. Charlie's girlfriend since school. Steel willed, she is driven and uncompromising. She knows what she wants and goes for it. Great pop voice.

DON: Male, 30s – 40s, Caucasian. Lola’s nemesis. Burly hyper-masculine bear of a factory worker. Strong pop/rock voice.

GEORGE: Male, 40s-50s, Caucasian. Factory manager keeping up traditions. Reserved.
