SPT $657 weekly minimum (SPT Tier 8)


SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Kansas City Actors Theatre 2022 Season 18 (see breakdown).

KCAT maintains a strong commitment to the Kansas City artistic community and encourages local submissions.

INSTRUCTIONS

Please prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues, not to exceed a total of 4 minutes, along with a brief introductory slate. Video link or file may be submitted via email with the subject line: AEA General Submission. Please also attach a headshot/resume.

VICTOR FRANZ - Any ethnicity, male, 50s. A police patrolman. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

WALTER FRANZ - Any ethnicity, male, 60s. Victor's estranged older brother, a doctor. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

ESTHER FRANZ - Any ethnicity, female, 50s. Victor's wife. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

GREGORY SOLOMON - White/Jewish, male, nearly 90. Still straight-backed and the air of his massiveness still with him. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

SPIDER'S WEB by Agatha Christie

All available roles in SPIDER'S WEB can be played by actors of any ethnicity and will require British dialects.

SIR ROWLAND - 50s-60s, male. Clarissa's godfather. Distinguished and charming.

JEREMY WARRENDER - 30s, male. An elegant young man.

PIPPA HAILSHAM-BROWN - 12-15, female. Henry's daughter, Clarissa's stepdaughter.

ELGIN - 30+, male or female, any ethnicity. The household's butler or cook.

OLIVER - 30s or 40s, male. An attractive man with villainous intent.

HENRY HAILSHAM-BROWN - 40s, male. Clarissa's husband, a mild-mannered diplomat. (will double as CONSTABLE JONES.)

INSPECTOR LORD - 40s or 50s, male. Experienced but occasionally befuddled, performatively in charge.

CLARISSA HAILSHAM-BROWN - Mid-30s to 40, female. The vivacious lady of the house. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

MILDRED PEAKE - 40+, female. An energetic gardener who came with the house. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

BIRCH - 60, male or female. An irascible friend of Clarissa's. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

CALVIN TRILLIN - White, male, 50s. A wry journalist whose focus is his wife and his enduring love for her. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

ALICE TRILLIN - White, female, mid 40s to early 50s. Educator, author, film producer, and muse to her husband. Has the appearance of an upper-class WASP. THIS ROLE IS CAST.

DOT by Colman Domingo

DOTTY - African American. Female. Sixty-five years old.

SHELLY - African American. Female. Forty-five years old.

JACKIE - Caucasian/Jewish. Female. Forty years old.

DONNIE - African American. Male. Forty years old.

ADAM - Caucasian/Latin/Arab. Male. Forty years old.

AVERIE - African American. Male. Thirty-five years old.

FIDEL - Kazakh/Central Asian. Male. Mid-to-late twenties.

SMART PEOPLE by Lydia Diamond

VALERIE JOHNSTON - 24, female, African American. Recently graduated A.R.T. Acting MFA.

BRIAN WHITE - 36-42, male, White. A professor at Harvard and a neuropsychiatrist. Studies patterns of racial identity and perceptions.

GINNY YANG - 34-40, female, Chinese and Japanese American. No accent. Only speaks English. A respected tenured professor of psychology at Harvard. Studies race and identity among Asian American women.

JACKSON MOORE - 28, male, African American. Harvard Med School. Surgical intern on rotation.
