A recent college graduate who has returned to her small hometown in Vermont. Reserved, but warm, Emmie has spent most of her life in all-white environments.

Head manager at Berry's (Vermont's biggest box store), Gar wants to make sure everyone follows the rules. Poised and tense.

WENDY: female, 60s, white.
A retired nurse who has gotten a job at Berry's to make ends meet. The mother hen of the group.

An aspiring rapper who lives with his grandmother in a trailer.

MAXINE: female, 30s - 40s, white
An anxious single mother with four kids, Maxine hates her job but worries she has no other options.

Wendy's husband, a retiree who has become a traffic cop to help pay the bills.

BETH ANN: 40's, Jewish. Sarah's clinically depressed mother, often spends her time in bed, frightened when she begins to see signs of herself in her young children...

LAURA: 14, Jewish. Sarah's older sister, better adjusted to her new school than Sarah but having a much harder time with her parents' divorce.

NANA: 60's/70's, Jewish. Sarah and Laura's grandmother, her lady like demeanor is contrasted with her Boston accent, love of hard jokes and even harder drinks.

“THE REDEEMERS”

CAL: Male, 30s-50s, any ethnicity.
Does whatever his brother, Wes, says. He was abused by his father as a child. Has night terrors. He is resentful of his youngest brother, Gary Allen.

WES: Male, 30s-50s, any ethnicity.
He is the oldest of the brothers, and the mastermind behind his and Cal’s violence. Also abused by their father.

GARY ALLEN: Male, 30s-40s, any ethnicity.
The Sheriff, and the youngest brother. He appears friendly and kind, but is a little too proud of how mature he is. Suffered no abuse from their father as a child, and has prospered more in life than the other two.

“A TOUGH CASE”

CURTIN: Male, 30s-40s, any ethnicity.
Classic fast-talking, film-noir private investigator. Isn’t always clear with what he says. Always smarter than his partners, yet insists on having a partner. Has romantic feelings towards Lindy.

BAINES: Male, 30s-40s, any ethnicity.
Well-meaning guy who partners with Curtin to be a P.I. Moronic, to the point where he frequently puts himself in danger and gets injured. Often misunderstands Curtin, but does his best to be a good PI.

THREADGILL: Male, 40s-50s, any ethnicity.
Scrap metal business owner who does not trust his partner, Brendan Finn. He turns to Curtin for help so he can learn whether or not Finn is committing fraud.

LINDY: Female, 20s-30s, any ethnicity.
Curtin’s assistant, does an excellent job as the secretary. Is having a love affair with Curtin. Calls everything as she sees it.

LUANNE: Female, 30s to 40s, any ethnicity.
Beautiful and charming club singer who is “paid to complain”. Knows a little about the investigation Curtin is looking into.

JOHNNY BRANCO: Male, 30s-50s, any ethnicity.
Owner of a nightclub, which is also a front for gambling. Is open to telling Curtin what he needs to know about the investigation. Calls it like it is to Curtin; asks him why his partners are always morons. Very good businessman.


“AT THE GAZEBO”

CARTER: Male, Late 20s, any ethnicity.
Troubled wanderer, can’t decide if it is better to be away from home or at home, or what home even means, or who he loves. Wants to win Dorothy’s attention.

DOROTHY: Female, early 20s, any ethnicity.
Attractive woman, 5 years younger than Carter. Has no problem speaking her mind, when appropriate. Abides by tradition. Autonomous, happy to take the world at face value. Used to have feelings for Carter.

GADSDEN: Male, 40s-60s, African-American.
Servant to Carter. Spies on Dorothy for Carter, and gets paid for it. Kind towards Carter.


“THE URBANITES”

CABBIE: Male, 40s, any ethnicity.
Perpetually disappointed. Trying to move up the ladder financially. Isn’t intelligent enough or wealthy enough to succeed. Blames his wife for this.

WIFE: Female, 40s, any ethnicity.
Overworked and overtired. Feels like she married an idiot. Definitely smarter than her husband.

JOEY FALCONE: Male, 40s, any ethnicity.
Unintelligent in the way he speaks. Thinks he is great because he’s honest, but is brutally selfish.

STEVE TUDIK: Male 40s, any ethnicity.
Slightly more wealthy and definitely smarter than the cabbie. Moving forward in life, as he has a plan to buy himself a taxi.


“INSIDE TALK”

LOU: Male, 40s-50s, any ethnicity.
Movie producer. Pushy/forceful to get his way. Is a man with big ideas. Sleazy. Has Writer living in his garage, so that he can hang out with young women at the writer’s parties.

EXECUTIVE (JOHN): Male, 50s, any ethnicity.
Executive producer for the film company. Calls things as he sees them, and is successful at his job.

JERRY: Male, 60s-70s, any ethnicity.
Movie producer. A loving Grandfather. He likes his job, and has been doing it for a long time.

Film school kid with crazy ideas. Lives in Lou’s garage.

20s/30s - Ayamma's older sister. She works (lazily) at her parents' travel agency. She loves all things pop culture: talk shows, soap operas, and celebrities, she loves it all. Close with Ayamma but also serves as Ayamma's truth serum when need be.

[GBENGA EZIE]
30s - Rising Nigerian film director. Is known to be rich and has studied in America but harbors dangerous secrets to his success.

[WALE OWUSU]
20s /30s - Nigeria's hottest rising star. He is half Ghanaian and half Nigerian. He is constantly being hit on by women but they rarely ever get to know him or his story. Quietly confident.

[FAYLOA OGUNLEYE]
30s - wildly referred to as The Nigerian Halle Berry with Tina Turner Legs as she is very beautiful and very sexy. She is pompous and arrogant and will say anything to get her way regardless of how it makes her look. She views Ayamma is her prime competition.
