Seeking:
Michael:
Mid to late 40s, Baritone, Strong Singer, Handsome, Quintessential Leading Man. The role requires an actor of great range who can successfully play mid 20s to mid 70s. The musical spans 50 years of married life. (1894 thru 1944). Michael is a definite product of his time, especially in his dealings with women. He is a very successful writer of romance novels who is charming, well-educated and tactile yet with a definite bent towards the pompous and acerbic.
Agnes:
Early to mid 40s. Alto with an effective head voice. Strong Singer. Quite attractive...the proverbial every-woman. The musical covers 50 years of matrimony (1894 thru 1944) therefore the role requires an actress of great emotional range who can effectively age from early 20s thru early 70s. Agnes is a strong, educated, opinionated woman. During the course of the play she delivers two children yet never misses a step. She is ounce for ounce her husband’s match but doesn’t shrink from playing the helpless or beguiling card when it serves her best interest.
