| Breakdown
Toulou – 20’s – A young, beautiful, sassy, and sensual African American woman who escapes from an abusive family in the cotton fields of Mississippi to live in Memphis. Although she is tiny her personality is twice her size. Must be able to sing: blues, jazz, gospel and similar styles. Must have good physicality and the ability to move expressively.
CandyLady – 50’s-60’s – The Hoodoo Madame of Beale Street. Candylady is a timeless representation of the power of African American women. She’s wise in her years but young in her heart and has a very quick toungue.
Ace of Spades – late 20’s early 30’s – Strong, sexy and very talented blues guitarist. He floats from city to city, playing blues and breaking women’s hearts. Must be able to play guitar – blues guitar helpful; Also harmonica; singing.
JIB – Late 20’s early 30’s – Toulou’s older brother who brings the secrets of her past with him to Memphis. He’s a born again Christian missionary. Fast Talker, Hustler, preacher.
