BREAKDOWN
SEEKING:
M.R. - Male, non-white, middle-aged or older. Composed, pleasant but worn. She carries the immense guilt and pain of having lost a child but has worked hard to conceal and contain it. She wrestles with her faith every day. She will always tell you she is “doing just fine” but she is not.
G.D. - Female, non-white, middle-aged-ish. She is trapped mourning her first love. She puts herself on constant internal trial for a mistake she may or may not have made. She wears an excellent mask and can stand up in her own defense, but she is perpetually preoccupied by the loss of her youth and her own potential guilt.
A.E. - Male, non-white, young and youthful, 20-30. He knows what it is to be an outsider. He may have done something unforgivable - or something merciful and righteous. His path is entirely that of the caretaker, but he has rarely received the care he needs. He has been told he has “a pretty face.” People have made assumptions about him that may be correct, but no one really knows him.
R.I. - Male, non-white, late 40s-100. He’s lived, and, in the worst conditions, he’s somehow adapted. He knows that hell is on earth, but his mind is a remarkable escape hatch. He is not well, but he is exceptionally good at denying his own need, pain and vulnerability.
N.E. - Male, non-white, youthful, early 20s or with the soul/spirit of absolute youth. Haunted, but he has an innate ability to seek the light and his own emancipation. His deep connection to the natural world and the life of his memories give him an almost ethereal quality. There is something essentially pure about him. He is a fierce but graceful survivor.
