Please prepare EITHER a) two brief contrasting monologues (approx. one minute each; if auditioning for ROMEO AND JULIET, one should be Shakespeare) OR b) 32 bars of a song and a brief (approx. 1-minute) monologue. If singing, bring legible sheet music; accompanist provided.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

All dates below are in 2011. All positions are available unless otherwise specified. For pre-cast positions, auditioning performers will be considered as possible replacements, should any become necessary.

LITTLE WOMEN Music: Kim Oler. Lyrics: Alison Hubbard. Book: Sean Hartley. 1st reh: 3/21. Dir: Cathey C. Sawyer. Choreo: Cate Bennett. Runs 4/15-5/7.

Jo:

16 at opening. Passionate and funny – a tomboy. G to E with strong belt and mix.

Meg:

17 at opening. Sweet and dreamy. Ab – Eb. Lyric soprano/mezzo.

Beth:

15 at opening. Demure. A – Eb, with good head mix.

Amy:

12 at opening. Comically self-centered brat who grows into a smart, elegant young lady. Bb – E, mezzo.

John Brooke:

Early 20s at opening. Bookish, slightly nerdy. A – F, baritone.

Laurie:

Male. 17 at opening. Passionate and charming. Bb – G, tenor/baritone.

Marmee:

Mature woman with intelligence, humor and warmth. G – Eb, alto with good mix.

Aunt March:

Comically patrician battleaxe. A – D, alto.

Father:

A gentleman. D – D, baritone.

Prof. Fritz Bhaer:

Proper, passionate scholar. Bb – Eb, baritone.

Mr. Laurence:

Gruff, haughty mature gentleman of business. C – D, baritone.

Mrs. Kirke:

Harried, overwhelmed landlady. Non-singing.

Chris:

Late 50s, early 60s. Wealthy businessman.

Kenni:

Mid 20s. Walter’s daughter.

Steve:

40s-50s. Car salesman.

Ginger:

40s-50s. Walter’s neighbor.

Mid - late 20s. Mezzo soprano, comfortable to an E and possibly beyond, preferably a legit sound.

Lois Warner:

Mid - late 20s. Alto with some mezzo soprano ability, comfortable to a C and possibly beyond, preferably a pop sound.

Del Delmonaco:

Late 20s - 30s. Tenor, comfortable to an A—the higher the better.

Gabe:

Mid - late 20s. Tenor, Bb - C range.

Esther:

50s - 60s. Alto, comfortable to a C, or at least a Bb, but should really be rich in her low to mid register.

Harvey:

50s-60s. Baritone, should have range to an F# or G.

ROMEO AND JULIET by Shakespeare. Dir: Cathey C. Sawyer. 1st reh: 8/29. Runs 9/27-10/26.

Escalus, Paris, Montague, Capulet, Old Man, Romeo, Mercutio, Benvolio, Tybalt, Friar Laurence, Friar John, Lady Montague, Lady Capulet, Juliet. The role of the Nurse is cast.

Fagin:

50-75. Con man who trains children to be pickpockets. Baritone.

Oliver Twist:

9-12. Boy soprano.

Artful Dodger:

12-15. Troubled youth. High tenor.

Nancy:

Bill Sykes:

30-50. A villain. Baritone.

Mr. Bumble:

50s-60s. Runs the workhouse. Stout. Baritone.

Widow Corney:
50s-60s. Workhouse mistress. Soprano.

40s-60s. Undertaker. Baritone.

Mrs. Sowerberry:

50s – 60s. Undertaker’s wife. Soprano.

Noah Claypole:

Late teens. Tall bully. Sowerberry’s apprentice. No solos.
