Seeking:

Cyrano
A proud poet and swordsman. A cadet. A letter writer. Lives hand to mouth. Refuses to compromise his principles. Loves words. Loves Roxanne.
Believes himself to be unlovable because of his nose. His own worst critic, judge and jury; he is his own destruction.

Roxanne
A little but angry; a little bit gullible. A beauty who wants to be wooed with the mind. Loves letters and poems. A feminist ahead of her time. Loyal and funny. A charmer - easy to love and very hard to please.

Christian
Easy on the eyes. A fighter. A man's man. Not so good with words. The actor needs to be funny - and able to play this with grace and humor. Christian dies in battle but he would sacrifice himself for his love: a noble heart.

Le Bret
Cyrano's best friend; right hand man, a cadet. The voice of reason and calm & wit.

De Guiche
The most powerful man in town. The money; the power. He has an arc - moves from trying to destroy what threatens him to respecting and upholding and understanding it. He learns humility and compassion. He wants Roxanne but ends up truly loving her.

Male Actor 1
Montgomery/Cadet 2/Musician
A large physical presence. This cadet has 'a girl' that he never confessed he loved. Someone with heart - on the young side of 40

Male Actor 2
Ragueneau/Cadet 1/Musician
The baker who is also a poet. A friend to Cyrano. He dislikes De Guiche and any abuse of power. This cadet has a wife he hasn't seen and children he loves. Should tear the heart in two to hear him tell it.

Male Actor 3
Jodelet/Priest/Cadet 3
A comedy role. Jodelet is the producer of the play. Needs humor and pizazz. A showman. The priest is very very thick/dull/slow - but kind hearted and well intentioned. This cadet has a father that was a drunk - and possibly follows in his footsteps.

Female Actor 1
Orange Girl/Sister Claire
Looking for an ingenue with a glimmer in her eye and fire in her belly. Needs to sing and move. Not just a pretty face.

Female Actor 2
Chaperone/Mother Marthe
The Chaperone is akin to the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet. She's overbearing and scolding; she's funny and has a huge heart. She loves Roxanne. She loves sweets. Needs to sing.
