Off Broadway $976 weekly minimum (Commercial Tier C) - rehearsal weeks; over scale for performance weeks.

BREAKDOWN

SYNOPSIS: Determined to reconnect with his daughter, Howard embarks on a cross-country road trip that forces him to confront his past as a young cop in China during the 1980’s, a period of rapid change in the aftermath of the Cultural Revolution. As he struggles to navigate new challenges brought about by economic reforms and the explosion of western music, literature, and lifestyle that followed, Howard finds himself caught up in an undercover mission that will change the trajectory of his life and set him forever adrift from the world he called home.

[HOWARD] - 50s, Chinese, male-identifying, ex-cop who left China after the cultural revolution, runs a massage place in San Gabriel Valley, sarcastic, insecure. [THIS ROLE IS CAST]

[MOMO] 20-25, Chinese, female-identifying, Howards daughter, a college student, unenthusiastic New Yorker... enthusiastic Tik Toker.

[DAVE] 20s, Chinese, male identifying, sells pot to kids. Momo's ex-boyfriend, a screenwriter wannabe, Don Quixotesque.

[HAO] 30s-40s, Chinese, male-identifying, a young police officer in China in the 80s, nervous, troubled, lost.

[XIONG] 40s-50s, Chinese, male-identifying, a senior police officer in China in the 80s.

[JIAHUA] 20s - early 30s, young Chinese woman who frequents the underground music club, free-spirited.

[WHITE BOYFRIEND] - 20-25, White, male-identifying. Speaks in third person. Someone Momo’s seeing.
