Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.
Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.
Holding/Audition room information:
The audition room (Studio A) can accommodate no more than 52 individuals at a time. The audition room (Studio A) can accommodate no more than 15 dancers at a time. The holding room is can accommodate no more than 30 individuals at a time.

ACTOR: Chuck Desantis (40s), middle-aged, a bit worn, with a strong Jersey accent, he could be part of a mob, but he’s one of the good guys; Marty Branahan (50s), close to retirement age, big and brash, street-smart but that’s about all; Ellen Hertle (40)--as the owner of the local Beauty Salon, she’s learned how to use her personal beauty to advantage, tough talker, heart of gold; Phoebe Hertle (16), awkward, shy, but with a sly and knowing sense of humor, been around the block, but not all the way; Buddy Howard (50s), middle-aged, a bit fey, and totally British, speaks with a bit of a lisp, teaches drama, and knows all about it from personal experience; Gloria Salzano (60s), a diminutive woman with eyeglasses and a strong Jersey accent; Marion Tochterman (60s), a customer of Hair Today Salon, a lifelong smoker, and she sounds it; Otto Beckerman (70s), the go-to guy if you have a broken cuckoo clock or an antique pocket watch, German; and Travis Lembeck (18), the kind of kid with too much past and not enough future, trouble, but with charm for days. (Actor of any race/ethnicity/gender identity).
WADSWORTH (male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) , a traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal and “by the book.” He is the driving force in the play.
YVETTE (female presenting, 20-30, any race/ethnicity), a loyal and alluring French maid, French accent.
MISS SCARLET (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity), a dry, sardonic D.C. madam, more interested in secrets than sex.
MRS. PEACOCK (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity), the wealthy wife of a senator. A bit batty, neurotic, and quick to hysteria.
MRS. WHITE (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity), a pale, morbid, and tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer of her five ex-husbands.
COLONEL MUSTARD (male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity), a puffy, pompous, dense, blowhard of a military man.
PROFESSOR PLUM (male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity), an arrogant academic, easily impressed by himself.
MR. GREEN (male presenting, 20+, any race/ethnicity), a timid yet officious rule follower. He’s awfully anxious.
ENSEMBLE WOMAN (female presenting, 20+, any race/ethnicity): THE COOK, a gruff woman with a threatening presence. (Alive and Dead.) SINGING TELEGRAM GIRL, a tap dancer with a heart of gold. (Alive and Dead.) AUXILIARY SCARLET, the back of Miss Scarlet during a scene of theatrical trickery. BACKUP COP, backup for the Chief in the very final Cop entrance.
ENSEMBLE MAN 1 (male presenting, 20+, any race/ethnicity): MR. BODDY, a slick, Frank Sinatra, film noir-esque type fella. (Alive and Dead.) THE MOTORIST, a professional driver. (Alive and Dead.) CHIEF OF POLICE, a cop who helps to save the day.
ENSEMBLE MAN 2 (male presenting, 20+, any race/ethnicity): THE UNEXPECTED COP, a regular Joe. (Alive and Dead.) BACKUP COP, backup for the Chief. AUXILIARY MUSTARD, the back of Colonel Mustard during a scene of theatrical trickery.
KING ARTHUR (male presenting, 30+ any race/ethnicity.): The King of England who sets out on a quest to form the Knights of the Roundtable and find the Holy Grail. Great Humor. Good singer.
SIR LANCELOT d/b/a LANCE (male presenting, 30s-40, any race/ethnicity): A Knight of the Roundtable. He is fearless to a bloody fault, but through a twist of fate, does discover his 'softer side.' Excellent with character voices and accents, as he also plays THE FRENCH TAUNTER, an arrogant, condescending, over-the-top Frenchman, the KNIGHT OF NI, an absurd, cartoonish leader of a peculiar group of Knights, and TIM THE ENCHANTER, a ghostly being with a Scottish accent.
SIR GALAHAD (male presenting, 30s, any race, ethnicity): A Knight of the Roundtable. Begins as Dennis, a lower class 'mud gatherer' who becomes knighted and transforms into the dashing Sir Galahad. Also PRINCE HERBERT'S FATHER, a wealthy, brutish Yorkshireman at odds with his sensitive son, THE BLACK KNIGHT who is always ready to duel despite multiple injuries. Strong baritenor singing.
THE LADY OF THE LAKE (female presenting, 20s-30s, any race/ethnicity): A Diva. Strong, beautiful, possesses mystical powers. The leading lady of the show. Great singing voice, able to sing effortlessly in many styles and vocal registers.
Matilda Wormwood (female presenting. Age 7-12, any race/ethnicity). An imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched and is a fantastic storyteller. Small, mature, and ready to handle carrying the entire show. Strong singer. Vocal range: A3 - D5
Miss Agatha Trunchbull (30+, any race/ethnicity, male or female presenting). The tyrannical headmistress at Matilda's school who despises children. Once a famous athlete, she is described as a gigantic Holy terror, a fierce tyrannical monster who marches like a storm trooper with long arms swinging with an aura of menace. An imposing presence. Vocal range: A2 - G4
Miss Honey (female presenting, 20-30, any race/ethnicity). Matilda's kindhearted teacher. She befriends Matilda. She is tired of living in fear under Miss Trunchbull. A mild, quiet person who never raises her voice and seldom seems to smile - yet possesses the rare gift of being adored by every small child under her care. She should have a curious warmth that is almost tangible. Vocal range: F3 - D5
Mr. Wormwood (male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity). Matilda's uncaring father. A slimy, greedy used-car salesman. A mean crooked crook. Strong comic. Vocal range: D3 - A4
Mrs. Wormwood (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity). Matilda's self-absorbed, negligent mother and an amateur ballroom dancer who is obsessed with her amateur Ballroom dancing partner and her looks. She has an over-the-top personality who resents Matilda and often berates her. Strong comic, singer & dancer. Vocal range: A3 - F5
Michael Wormwood (male presenting, teenager, any race/ethnicity). Matilda's older brother. He is not very bright and favored by their parents. Comedic. Needs good deadpan comedy and the ability to find a character during a lot of stage time with few words.
Mrs. Phelps (female presenting, 20+, any race/ethnicity). The kind Librarian who takes a liking to Matilda.
THE TEENS/YOUNG ADULTS: (Ensemble) – RESIDENT COMPANY - A very STRONG group of dancers and singers. They are the tough kids at the school and perform the shows biggest singing and dancing numbers. Speaking, dancing, and singing parts –may play dual roles.
THE ELEMENTARY KIDS (8): Matilda’s classmates. Various singing, dancing, and speaking roles; They are:
Bruce (male presenting, 8-14, any race ethnicity). Matilda's classmate. He is subject to extreme punishment by Miss Trunchbull. Strong singer. Vocal range: C4 - E5
Lavender (female presenting, 8-14, any race/ethnicity). Matilda's classmate and self-proclaimed best friend. Big personality.
Amanda (female presenting, 8-14, any race/ethnicity) Strong dance and vocal ability.
Alice (female presenting, 8-14, any race/ethnicity). Strong and Bold. Strong dance and vocal ability Hortensia (female presenting, 8-14, any race/ethnicity). Feisty. Strong dance and vocal ability Eric (male presenting, 8-14, any race/ethnicity). Small. Strong dance and vocal ability.
Nigel (male presenting, 8-14, any race/ethnicity). Spoken dialogue. Strong dance ability. Strong vocal ability

The Escapologist (Ensemble) – Male presenting. A character in a story Matilda tells to Mrs. Phelps who comes to life in their imagination. Strong singer and dancer. Appears in several numbers. Vocal range: C3 - E4
The Acrobat (Ensemble) – Male or female presenting. A character in a story Matilda tells to Mrs. Phelps who comes to life in their imagination. Strong singer and dancer. Vocal range: D4 - A4
Rudolpho (Ensemble) – Male presenting. Mrs. Wormwood's ballroom dance partner. Strong singer & dancer. Vocal range: D#3 - A4
Doctor (Ensemble) – Male presenting. Mrs. Wormwood's Doctor when she goes into labor with Matilda. An optimistic and naïve persona. Vocal range C3 - A4
Children’s Entertainer (Ensemble) – A party entertainer at the start of the show. Any “Clown tricks” are a plus. Vocal range: F#3-Eb4
Cook, Henchman 1, Henchman 2, Henchman 3, Parents
GOMEZ ADDAMS (male presenting, 35+, any race/ethnicity): Patriarch of the Addams Family, Suave, strong comic timing, moves well, loving husband, extremely passionate, but just a bit traditional. Strong baritone and a solid Spanish accent.
MORTICIA ADDAMS (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity) Sensual, macabre, strong comedic timing, mezzo/alto, passionate about her family. Moves very well.
FESTER ADDAMS (male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity). Narrator of the show, strong comedic timing, eerie, quirky, earnest, moves well. Baritenor.
GRANDMA (Stage age 102) (female presenting, 18+, any race/ethnicity). Quirky, feisty, always with a trick up her sleeve. Crass, wise and wacky. Great comedic timing and physicality.
WEDNESDAY ADDAMS (female presenting, 18-22, any race/ethnicity). Gothic big sister, who has her father’s heart and her mother’s sensibility, falls in love with a “normal” boy who she brings to meet the family. Strong will, stubborn, compassionate. Strong belt.
PUGSLEY ADDAMS (male presenting, 12-14, any race/ethnicity). Youngest of the Addams family. Pugsley loves to be tortured by his big sister. Charming and funny.
LURCH (male presenting, 18+, tall, any race/ethnicity). A character of few words, he is the family butler. His presence is accented by grunts, moans and deliberate movement. Great physical storytelling abilities. Bass range.
ALICE BEINEKE: (female presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity). Straight-laced, maternal, sexually repressed and fed up with it. Moves well. Soprano with fierce belt and strong comedic timing.
MAL BEINEKE (male presenting, 30+, any race/ethnicity). Uptight father of Lucas and cold husband to Alice. The Addams are too bizarre for his taste.
LUCAS BEINEKE (male presenting, 18+, any race/ethnicity). Hopeful romantic, in love with Wednesday and intends to marry her. Optimistic, but struggles to find the balance between his normal family and the Addams. Strong singer.
FRANKIE (20-35, any race/ethnicity). A strong tenor with sweet and strong falsetto able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli; strong tenor to high A or Bb plus strong falsetto up to treble G; charismatic and charming; comfortable with narrative text. Has a gritty side as well as a polished veneer; very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies.
BOB (20-35, any race/ethnicity). Preferably tall; strong tenor/baritenor voice; very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; comfortable with narrative text; an intelligent, sensitive, and introspective musical prodigy.
TOMMY (20-35, any race/ethnicity). Strong tenor/baritenor voice; very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; comfortable with narrative text; ability to play guitar a very strong plus; a natural born leader with an appealing, bad-boy quality.
NICK (20-35, any race/ethnicity). Strong bass/baritone voice; very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; comfortable with narrative text; a quiet dreamer who longs for life after The Four Seasons.
GYP DECARLO (45-55, any race/ethnicity). Tough, mafioso type, a strong singer.
BOB CREWE (30-40, any race/ethnicity). Intelligent and flamboyant; genius music producer and lyricist; an integral part of creating the magic of The Four Seasons.
JOE PESCI (20s, any race/ethnicity). 5’9” or shorter; young, energetic; a strong singer; will understudy role of Frankie Valli.
BARRY BELSON (20s, any race/ethnicity). Strong singer to play various roles (friends, producers, etc); strong tenor to high C, with a strong falsetto to G above high C; has the ability to riff in rhythm and-blues style.
THREE WOMEN (female presenting, 20s, any race/ethnicity). Fabulous singers with flexible vocal registers to play a variety of roles (the many girlfriends of The Four Seasons, etc); should fit well together a la '60s band Shangrilas and be believable as tough-as-nails Jersey girls; very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies; all three women need to belt and/or have strong mix as one track belts up to F natural and two tracks also need high soprano.
ANNIE WILKES: (Female presenting, 40s-60s–any race/ethnicity). A nurse who comes to Paul’s rescue (seemingly), Annie seems to be a kind, tender woman who cares deeply for Paul, even if she does seem slightly off. As Paul grows to know her it becomes clearer that Annie is manipulative, cunning, and hides a deep set and terrifying malice behind her cheery simple façade.
PAUL SHELDON (Male Presenting, Late 30s – Early 60s – any race/ethnicity) A famed romance novelist tired of the series that has brought him the most acclaim. Returning from a retreat to finish his most recent work, he is involved in a terrible car crash that leaves him with broken legs and unable to care for himself. He’s thoughtful, if not a touch arrogant, and extremely crafty. He quickly realizes how dangerous his situation is and must use anything and everything at his disposal to survive.
BUSTER (Male Presenting, Late 30s – Late 60s, any race/ethnicity) The Sheriff of a nearby town searching for Paul. Very friendly with possible hopes of something more
