FOUR CHILDREN - Kansas City Actors Theatre

FOUR CHILDREN - EQUITY VIDEO SUBMISSIONS

Kansas City Actors Theatre

CONTRACT

SPT $625 weekly minimum (SPT 8)

SEEKING

Good storytellers. All genders, ages, and races. The script is composed of writings from teenage diaries and their stories will be told by actors who are not necessarily the same age, gender or race as the teenagers.

There are 4 roles. Each role functions as a narrator telling the story of a teenager who has witnessed a genocide and recorded their impressions in a diary. The actors will not need to embody the characters of the teenagers, but rather tell their story effectively.

The roles are, simply, Actor 1, Actor 2, Actor 3 and Actor 4.

Kansas City Actors Theatre is very committed to local actors.

BREAKDOWN

Please slate with your name. Then read the following two passages. You do not need to fully memorize. You are not pretending to be the teenager. You are telling the teenager’s story.

#1
On the day when the soldiers were being sent to the front, the entire population of the city gathered at the garrison, to wish well to those who were leaving. We were also there, as we had many compatriots among those who were departing. After the prayers and good wishes, the leader of the Union and Progress Party made a speech. His words chilled the hearts of the Christians who were there. “We are going off to fight and God willing, we will smash the heads of all of the infidels , who are the enemies of our father and our homeland.

#2
They knock at eleven in the morning. Mom opens the door, and a German army officer, two policemen, and the superintendent come in. The officer asks how many persons are in the apartment, looks at the beds, asks about bedbugs and if we have a radio. He doesn’t find anything worthy of taking and finally leaves disappointed. At the neighbors (naturally they only go to Jews), he took away radios, mattresses, comforters, carpets, etc. They took away the Grabiniskis’ only down quilt.
