SEEKING

Actors for principal roles — seeking all ethnicities and types.

PREPARATION

Prepare 32 bars from an uptempo song that showcases your vocal range. Songs from “The Little Mermaid” are acceptable; Ariel candidates should prepare “Part of Your World Reprise” for the preliminary audition. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided. No CDs or tracks permitted.

Performances dates are March 15,16,17 & 18, 2018. First rehearsal starts the week of 2/19. Rehearsals will be on a Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs schedule from 3pm-10:30pm and Sat rehearsals from 10am-5pm.

BREAKDOWN

Ariel—(Female, 16-26) A mermaid and King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kind hearted. Strong vocalist and actor. Vocal Range: Soprano Ab3-Gb5

Prince Eric—(Male, 20’s) A handsome and adventurous prince who captures Ariel’s heart. Strong actor and vocalist. Vocal Range: Tenor B2-G4

Sebastian—(Male, 20-40) A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way. Strong vocalist and actor with a Caribbean accent. Vocal Range: Strong Mix-Belt Bb2-C5

Flounder—(Male or Female, 8-14) A fish who is smitten with his best friend Ariel. Rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water. Spunky young actor and singer. Vocal Range: A2-G4

Scuttle—(Male or Female, 20-40) A loudmouthed, optimistic seagull who is an ‘expert’ in human artifacts. Strong character voice and movement. Tap experience required. Vocal Range: Tenor/Alto C3-G4

King Triton—(Male, 30-50) Ariel’s commanding and over-protective father. Vocal Range: Tenor Ab2-F4

Mersisters—(Female, 20’s) Ariel’s sisters: Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Allana. Should be strong vocalists and dancers. Double as ensemble roles. Vocal Range: Varies

Ursula—(Male or Female, 30-55) Manipulative sea witch who tries to overthrow King Triton. Strong actor and vocalist with character voice. Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano Belt Eb3-C5

Flotsam/Jetsam—(Male or Female, 20’s) The oily and spineless eel lackeys to Ursula. Strong vocalists with expressiveness. Vocal Range: Varies

Grimsby—(Male, 40-60) Prince Eric’s stuffy British guardian. Strong comedic actor with a British accent. Doubles as ensemble. Vocal Range: C3-C4

Chef Louis—(Male, 30-60) French Palace chef with a diabolical side. Strong comedic actor and singer, with a French Accent. Doubles as ensemble. Vocal Range: Bb2-A4

Ensemble—Strong singers and dancers. Sailors, Sea Creatures, Merfolk, Gulls, Chefs, Maids, Lagoon Animals.
