BREAKDOWN
[MALE ENSEMBLE SINGERS]
Any ethnicity. To play/cover various characters including Paul Burrell (Diana’s butler), Andrew Morton (an author), soldiers, hospital patients, paparazzi, reporters, etc. Excellent contemporary singing voices of all ranges. Dance/movement skills a plus.
[MALE ENSEMBLE u/s PRINCE CHARLES]
Charles is in his early-to-late 30's for the duration of the play. He's tall and slender and handsome in the most British of ways. Fiercely intelligent and educated, he's spent a life hiding his feelings -- and he's gotten quite good at it. He exhibits great rage and passion and confusion in the most Shakespearean of ways. His is a life devoted to duty and honor. Contemporary legit baritone voice (low B-flat to high G). ENSEMBLE
[GRAHAM/MALE ENSEMBLE DANCER/SINGER]
20s, especially seeking diverse performers. Graham is a patient in the AIDS ward of a hospital Diana visits. Open, vulnerable, and especially appreciative of the Princess. Possibly slight of build. Great singer; should have dance/movement ability. FEATURED ENSEMBLE
[COLIN/MALE ENSEMBLE DANCER/SINGER]
Male 20s-30s, any ethnicity, especially seeking diverse performers. Great dancer with an excellent solo singing voice to play various roles in the ensemble including COLIN: The head security agent for The Prince. Fiercely protective. A former military man, he possesses a quiet watchful intensity. FEATURED ENSEMBLE
[FEMALE ENSEMBLE SINGERS]
Any ethnicity. To play/cover various characters in the ensemble. Should have excellent contemporary singing voices of all ranges. Dance/movement skills a plus.
[FEMALE ENSEMBLE u/s DIANA]
20s – early 30s. fantastic ensemble singer (ideally with a flexible soprano voice as well as a contemporary pop/rock mix) to cover the role of DIANA: A beautiful English rose who dreams of marrying a prince. She begins the show as a wildly naive teenager. She's tempestuous and willful and joyful and sensible. She has a kindness and empathy that practically radiates off her. Contemporary pop/rock belter with a fantastic mix, who can easily sing up to a D#.
[FEMALE ENSEMBLE u/s QUEEN ELIZABETH II]
40s - 50s. Fantastic ensemble singer and actor to cover the role of QUEEN ELIZABETH II: A long-standing monarch who doesn't suffer fools. She has a great sense of duty and honor and is always in full control of her emotions. The role of Queen Elizabeth doubles with Barbara Cartland, the outrageously flamboyant romance novelist who wears yards and yards of pink.
