Preparation
Sides will be provided at the audition. For singing roles, please also prepare a short folk song to be sung a cappella (sing in Spanish for the Spanish roles). Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back.

LOS VALIENTES by Jose Cruz Gonzalez.
3 weeks of rehearsals from Aug 13, 2012. 2 week break, followed by 4 weeks of touring performances from Sept 17 - Oct 14, 2012. Possible 3-week extension through to Nov.

One male singing actor. AVAILABLE POSITION. Actor plays 3 renowned Latin American figures: muralist Diego Rivera, slain human rights activist Archbishop Oscar Romero of San Salvador, and Mexican-American outlaw Joaquin Murieta (the basis for the Zorro legend). Extremely versatile actor needed, with tremendous charisma and strong, agile command of language and physicality. Characters range in age from 20's-50's. Text is in English, but songs are in Spanish.




OF EBONY EMBERS by Akin Babatunde.
Touring performances mid-Jan, 2013 through to end Feb, 2013

One Male Actor. Position is CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. Actor plays 3 renowned African-American poets/artists of the Harlem Renaissance: Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen and Claude McKay, as well as the great muralist & painter Aaron Douglas. Extremely versatile actor needed. Must have strong command of language and an agile grace to embody these four larger than life characters with dignity and gentle humour.




AIN'T I A WOMAN by Kim Hines.
Touring performances March 2013

One Female Singing Actor. Position is CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. Actress plays four African American women of substance: ex-slave and fiery abolitionist Sojourner Truth, renowned novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, exuberant folk artist Clementine Hunter and fervent civil rights worker Fannie Lou Hamer. Extremely versatile actress needed. Strong command of language and physicality needed to embody these four characters at various life stages, from ages 30 - 80, with dignity and gentle humor. Strong mezzo/alto jazzy singing voice required.
