A dark social satire of four friends from grad school facing the dawn of the recession. But while they’re busy planning schemes for love and success, the beasts of agribusiness are closing in.

Place Modern Day, America

Each performer plays a main character, which is presented as basically naturalistic, plus a number of minor characters. The central ensemble are three-dimensional human characters, but the ancillary characters are mostly grotesques.

Seeking:

Zoe:

F, African-American, 30s. An emerging video and film director.

Mike:

M, white, 30s, an academic turned management consultant. Zoe’s husband.

Jade:

F, white, early 20s, Carol’s daughter, also troubled, but a little less.

David:

M, “of color” but not necessarily African-American (probably Latino, Middle Eastern, or South Asian); 30s, an actor.

The following roles have been CAST. Actors will be considered for possible replacements if needed.

Karen:

F, any ethnicity (diversity encouraged); 30s, a desperate, out-of-work actor, into New Age stuff

Big Hog:

Either gender, but this is a male hog. A factory farm pig that wants to be a wild pig.

Carol:

F, white, late 40s/50s, a career waitress. Troubled. Mike’s sister.
