LEND ME A TENOR by Ken Ludwig

Rehearses May 15-June 1

Performs June 2-25 (performances Thu-Sun weekly)

Casting eight high energy, comic performers for:

MAX: (30+, male-identifying) Saunders’ long-suffering assistant, who is forced to take Tito’s place in the role of Canio. Not required to sing, although those auditioning that can sing may be an option.

MAGGIE SAUNDERS: (20-30, female-identifying) Saunders’ daughter, and Max’s girlfriend. She has a great admiration for Tito. This character at one point appears in undergarments.

SAUNDERS: (45+, male-identifying) The Cleveland Grand Opera’s general manager, and Maggie’s father A blowhard who often loses his temper at the slightest mishap.

TITO MERELLI: (35+, male-identifying) The world’s most renowned opera tenor, and notorious “ladies man”. Opera singing a plus, but not required. Believable Italian accent.

MARIA MERELLI: (35+, female-identifying) Tito’s suffering wife, with a temper. Desperately loves Tito, despite his roving eyes. Believable Italian accent needed.

DIANA: (25-45, female-identifying) The opera’s ingenue soprano, who is “fighting her way” to the top. A seductive woman, and she knows it. This character at one point appears in undergarments.

BELLHOP: (30+, male-identifying) A comic relief character who has an ongoing feud with Saunders. An obnoxious opera fan.

JULIA: (40+, female-identifying) Chairwoman of the Cleveland Opera Guild, who believes she holds quite an important position at the Opera (she doesn’t).

SHOUT: The Mod Musical

Rehearses June 26- July 13

Performs July 14 – Aug 6 (performances Thu-Sun weekly).

Seeking 5 extremely talented female-identifying vocal artists for broad comedy, close harmonies and wide style range:

Blue Girl: (high soprano belt - low Bb to High C) A blue-blooded fashion model. Sophisticated, poised, and cool.

Yellow Girl: (Alto with big rock diva belt - F below Mid C to belt Eb) A loud, uninhibited and brash American girl. She is a ray of sunshine with a surprising vulnerability.

Orange Girl: (soprano with belt - low Bb to High Bb) The “mother” of the group. Domestic and maternal, she is wise, soulful, and mature. Slowly asserting her new-found independence.

Green Girl: (Mezzo) A good-time girl. Blousy, middle-class, and zany. She is a bit frayed at the edges, and hopelessly single. A comedian of sorts.

Red Girl: (soprano with belt – low Bb to High C - The “baby” of the group, she is an exciting blend of youthful contradictions. Quirky, enthusiastic, and naïve. A hopeless romantic who is insecure about her looks.
