Equity Principal Auditions:

Tuesday, May 31, 2011 Pearl Studios NYC

10 AM – 2 PM 500 Eighth Avenue, 4th Floor

Equity Monitor begins sign-up at 9 AM. New York City

Singers: Prepare a brief song, in any style, that shows off your voice. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided, but may not transpose. Actors: Prepare a brief monologue.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

Seeking exceptional and talented performers to portray Barbie and Ken and represent Mattel, Inc. on an ongoing, freelance basis at numerous high-level events in the United States and internationally, including toy fairs, media events, charity events, Mattel corporate events, etc. Most of these events will be one- or two-day engagements, providing the performer with the opportunity to earn extra income while still being available to work on other projects, etc. Some travel may be required. Performers will be with a character-handler at all times during the events, and will never appear alone or be unprepared for the specific requirements of any given event. Performers will receive first-class media training, when necessary. For all characters, all tattoos must be able to be covered with clothing or makeup.

Barbie™ - Strong Singer:

Female, 18+ (by 7/1/11), to play 18-20. Should be between 5’6” and 5’10” wearing heels. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Costume range: Dress size 2-6. Must have great mid-range pop voice. Ballet and jazz training a plus. Seeking strong actress. Must have a grounded personality, as she will represent Barbie™ in both media events and personal appearances. Must appear calm and responsible, and be exceptional with children, exhibiting the ability to make them feel important.

Barbie™ - Strong Actress:

Female, 18+ (by 7/1/11), to play 18-20. Should be between 5’6” and 5’10” wearing heels. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Costume range: Dress size 2-6. Seeking strong actress. Must have a grounded personality, as she will represent Barbie™ in both media events and personal appearances. Must appear calm and responsible, and be exceptional with children, exhibiting the ability to make them feel important.

Ken – Strong Singer:

Male, 18+ (by 7/1/11) to play 18-20. 5’11” and taller. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Fit/trim, cleanshaven, athletic, Malibu surfer-type. Ken is sporty-cool with style. His charm and enthusiasm make it easy for him to become fast friends with anyone he meets. He is fun (the guy everyone wants to hang out with), reliable and loyal. Athletic. Singers should have strong pop voice, baritone. Appears with Barbie in media events and personal appearances.

Ken – Strong Actor:

Male, 18+ (by 7/1/11) to play 18-20. 5’11” and taller. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Fit/trim, cleanshaven, athletic, Malibu surfer-type. Ken is sporty-cool with style. His charm and enthusiasm make it easy for him to become fast friends with anyone he meets. He is fun (the guy everyone wants to hang out with), reliable and loyal. Athletic. Appears with Barbie in media events and personal appearances.
