Please prepare a song in the style of the show or from the show/role you are interested in. Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided but may not transpose. Also bring book of music in case asked for another selection.
Bring picture and resume, stapled together.
NOTE: There will be a separate EPA for the Season plays (The Importance of Being Earnest, Twelfth Night) in the Fall 2011.

Seeking:
Coalhouse Walker Jr.:
(Baritone) – Male, late 20s-30s, African American. Star pianist and the father of Sarah’s child: proud, confident, stubborn; becomes militant and violent for his cause.
Mother:
(Alto) – Female, 30s, Caucasian. Upper middle-class New Rochelle housewife; gentle, compassionate, optimistic. Struggles with the changes of society.
Mother’s Younger Brother:
(Baritone) – Male, Mid 20s, Caucasian. Mother’s brother; an anarchist who is in love with Evelyn Nesbitt.
Father:
(Baritone) – Male, Late 30-40s, Caucasian. Upper middle-class business man. He is traditional in the male role of the period, cautious and resistant to change.
Grandfather:(Baritone) – Male, Late 50-60s, Caucasian. Little Boy’s grandfather. Very outspoken
Little Boy:
(Tenor) Mother and Father’s son, precocious, observant and always curious.
Little Girl:
(Soprano) - Tateh’s daughter. Se is quiet and shy.
Sarah:
(Soprano/Alto) – Female, 20s –Early 30s, African American. The mother of Coalhouse’s child; despondent, discouraged, sensitive, vulnerable, but ultimately incredibly strong.
Tateh:
(Tenor) – Male, Late 30-40s, Caucasian/Eastern European/Jewish immigrant in search of the American Dream; intelligent, compassionate, creative.
1940’s RADIO HOUR

Pops Bailey:
Doorman, 60+. Crotchety, wizened stage door keeper.
Lou Cohn:
Around 40. Stage manager. Cues the show & runs sound effects.Plenty of authority & no real responsibility.
Clifton A. Feddington:
40s. Announcer & general manager. Always has problems, but is genuine & vulnerable. Singing required. Range C to middle C
Neal Tilden:
mid-30s. The show’s not too talented comic. Wants to do it all, sing, dance & act. Would like to be more important than he is. Sings & dances. Range C to C#
Biff Baker:
Mid 20s, All American boy who is in uniform & will be going overseas tomorrow. Maybe plays the trumpet & definitely sings & dances. C to C
Johnny Cantone:
Mid-30s, Featured vocalist. Crooner who drinks too much even during the show. Sad, but sweet. Good looking, but never became what he might have been. Sings. Range A to D
BJ Gibson:
Early 20s, student at Yale. Sings, taps & does a mean jitterbug. Very aggressive about his career. Good looking & squeaky clean. Range Bb to D
Wally Ferguson:
Late teens, works in the drugstore across the street. Brings food & drink to the cast, but really wants to be one of them. We love him because his is so innocent and eager.
Stanley:
20s, studio technician who lugs cable. Not too bright, but lovable. (Will Cast in Denver)
Ann Collier:
30s “Classic Big Band Singer” of the period. Dances. Everybody’s favorite, but what’s she doing here with all that talent? Range Gb to Cb
Geneva Lee Brown:
30s, African-American high class lady with a voice like velvet. Dressed to kill. Can be brassy & sassy too. Range F - C
Connie Miller:
Late teens, Bobbysoxer. High energy with good singing voice. Has a bit of the young Judy Garland in her. Taps & jitterbugs. Range C to D
Ginger Brooks:
30s. Bubbleheaded parody of a 1940’s “pin up girl.” Sings, dances and is always aware of herself and her sexuality. Range F to C
CHESS

(Mezzo/Belt) – Gregor’s young daughter. In adulthood, acts as Freddie’s second.
Anatoly Sergievsky:
(Baritone) – Russia chess champion. Married to Svetlana, but falls in love with Florence.
Ivan Molokov:
(Bass) – Anatoly’s second.
Walter:
(Bass/Baritone) – Freddie’s agent, Crass, commercial. Secretly works for the C.I.A.
Arbiter:
(Rock-Style High Baritone) – Judge of chess championship.
Svetlana:
(Mezzo/Belt) – Antaloy’s Wife.

Female, early 20s, Caucasian. The quintessential California blonde who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and realizes that she has more to offer than just a pretty face an a bubbly personality. Gb2-G5 (Soprano belt).

Male, mid-late 20s. A smart and sensitive law student who takes Elle under his wing. B2-E5 (Alto).

Female, 20s. A mousy, intellectual law student G3-G5 (Soprano belt).
Margot:

Paulette:
Female, early –mid 20s. A brash and funny hair stylist who is friends with Elle and longs to find a man for herself. A3-A5 (Soprano belt).

Professor Callahan:
Male, 40s -50s. A pompous and manipulative law professor at Harvard. A2-F#4 (Baritone).

Female early – mid 20s. A smart and savvy Harvard law student who initially dismiss’ Elle, but grows to be her friend. A3-F5 (Soprano belt)
