NUNSENSE

SYNOPSIS
This show follows the Little Sisters of Hoboken, who find themselves in a financial panic when the convent cook inadvertently poisons 52 sisters. To raise the funds for their internment, the remaining sisters put on a variety show. This multi-award winning musical, including Best Off-Broadway Musical, has become an international phenomenon.

ROLES

SISTER MARY REGINA – 50’s-60’s (Range: B3-F5)
Mother Superior: a feisty, overweight Sophie Tucker-type who can't resist the spotlights. Should move well and have excellent comic timing. Part requires some very physical humor.
THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST

SISTER MARY HUBERT – mid 40’s-50’s (Range: G3-F5)
Mistress of Novices: the second-in-command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior. She exudes maternal wisdom to novices, but also likes to let loose. Should move well.

SISTER ROBERT ANNE – Mid 30’s to 40’s (Range: G3-D5)
a streetwise, tough character from Brooklyn, a constant source of irritation for the Mother Superior. She speaks with a Brooklyn accent and constantly displays her lack of refinement. Dance ability a plus including tap.

SISTER MARY AMNESIA – 30’s to mid 40’s (Range: Db4-C6)
this nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head; she is very sweet. She is spacey and incoherent, often slipping into displays inappropriate for a nun. Must be able to sing in classical and country styles. puppetry and ventriloquism a plus; as well as tap ability

SISTER MARY LEO – Mid 30’s (Range: G#3-G5)
the novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina. Should dance well. Pointe work a plus. Tap dance ability as well. Needs to be a strong actor as well as a good singer.

SYNOPSIS
Adapted from the 1951 play The Fourposter, I Do! I Do! covers 50 years of marriage between Agnes and Michael, from their wedding day to the day they move out of their family home. In between, they raise a family, quarrel, threaten to break up, reconcile, deal with empty nest syndrome, and grow old together.

ROLES

MICHAEL – Age: 25 to 50
A occasionally overbearing, vaguely chauvinistic writer. An egotist who adores his wife. A young man at the start of the show, which covers 50 years of marriage beginning in 1898.

Soft but independent, romantic but practical. A young woman at the start of the show, which covers 50 years of marriage beginning in 1898.

Any age or race, Belt up to a D, a twice divorced L.A. receptionist originally from Texas dealing with a misogynistic boss, think 9 To 5, a “citified” country girl, beautiful, sexy, smart and knows what men want. Must be a strong country singer.
THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST

DARLENE
20s, any race, Belt up to a D, a sweet Daddy’s girl from a coal mining town in West Virginia and the Mississippi Delta, survived the teenage death of her boyfriend and now takes care of her infirm father, innocent and naive, but knows that music connects her to who she wants to be, beautiful, all-natural girl, and probably a bit of a tomboy. Must be a strong country singer.
THIS ROLE HAS BEEN CAST

ANGELA
Any age or race, Belt up to a D, an overworked and underappreciated Texas housewife, a feisty independent woman with a great sense of humor, who worships at the altar of Roseanne Barr, probably a bit curvy and buxom, having kids has not killed her sex drive or her dreams of being a country singer. Must be a strong country singer.
