Passepartout (“Actor #3”)
Seeking a diminutive character man with extremely strong comic skills. Great physical skills a must.
Passepartout is French, 30-45. He is the newly employed valet of Mr. Fogg. He is an honest as well as a comic man. Loyal to his master, and yet gets into situations that hinder his master’s plans to travel around the world. Passepartout endears himself with his warmth, his sense of humor and his ability to act bravely as well as comically. While he is honest and orderly, there is a sense of clumsiness around him, and he has apparently had a more adventurous, colorful life than his master. A former circus performer, he wishes to taste the sweets of domestic life, taking service as a valet in England. Little does he know he’s in for the adventure of his life.
Aouda / James Foster / John Sullivan / Indian Priest (“Actor #4”):
Multi-character track for one actress; plays female and male characters. Versatile character actress with strong comic and physical skills required. Actresses of East Indian, Middle Eastern or Asian descent are especially encouraged to submit. Aouda: Parsee Indian princess, 25-35. Beautiful, young leading lady-type. Lovely, romantic. Married to an old rajah; when he dies, fanatical Hindus try to force her to commit the sacrifice of her life. She is rescued by Fogg’s group. She journeys with them around the world, falling in love with Phileas Fogg along the way. James Foster: Former servant of Fogg’s, dismissed because he committed the minor offence of bringing the shaving water at the wrong temperature. John Sullivan: Member of the Reform Club. We discover, at the end of the play, that he is the thief! Actress also plays An Indian Priest.
