BREAKDOWN
Roles 1 & 4 require facile comic actors who are able to change from one distinct character to another in seconds, with little-to-no help from costumes or make up.
ACTOR 1
(male): Plays 15 + characters from 30s-50s. Requires a brilliantly inventive comic actor who is outstanding with dialects.
ACTOR 2
(Male): Plays several characters, primarily Detective Fix: a comically inept Sherlock Holmes type, bumbling & pompous, several dialects required including English and Indian.
ACTOR 3
(Male) Primarily plays Passepartout: 30s. French dialect. Fogg’s comedic, idealistic and enthusiastic manservant/sidekick. He has the comic charm of Inspector Clouseau. Very light tumbling/acrobatics a strong plus, but not required. (Handstand, front roll.) An English accent is also required.
ACTOR 4
(Female). mid 20s-mid 30s. Primarily plays Aouda: Indian princess, smart, docile and endearing damsel in distress, rescued from imminent death. Requires Indian accent. Also plays 3 other roles - at least two of the other characters are men - with 3 different dialects (likely English and Cockney).
ACTOR 5
Phileas Fogg, late 30s/40s. English. Cool. Calm. Intelligent. Stalwart. A true gentleman. Unflappable and precise, he rarely cracks a smile or expresses frustration in the face of typhoons, wild Indians or love.
