Arms and the Man
By: George Bernard Shaw
As a young lady awaits the return of her heroic fiancé from war, a disheveled soldier sneaks into her bedroom fleeing the fight. Finding his simplicity more alluring than her fiancé’s arrogant posturing, she’s faced with singling out the real man for her. Will it be the “accidental hero” who is more toy than soldier? Or the pragmatic “coward” who comes armed with chocolates instead of bullets?
Crackling with wit, irony and charm, Shaw’s romantic comedy pokes fun at the dangers of bravado in battle and idealistic notions of love.
4 Men: 1~ 25-30, 1~early 30’s, 1~ 30’s-40’s, 1~late teens-20’s (this is a small role that will include crew)
3 Women: 1~(a young) 23, 1~ 20’s-30, 1~40’s +
EMC points may be received for non-equity performers.
Rehearsals
Begin Monday, September 26, 2011. Rehearsal schedule is Monday through Friday nights 7:00-11:00 PM
(with additional hours during tech week) and Saturdays (7 out of 8 ½ hours /times to be determined).
Performances
Are Thursday, October 20, 2011 through Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Stage West, 821 W Vickery.
[Note: performances will be Thur nights at 7:30, Fri & Sat nights at 8:00 and Sun matinees at 3:00.
There will be no performance on Thanksgiving - November 24.]
