Preparation
Please prepare a short traditional musical theatre song that best shows off your voice. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. A capella auditions will not be accepted. Please also bring a picture and resume stapled together.

Breakdown

RENO SWEENEY (30's - early 40's) A chic, sexy, brassy night club singer turned evangelist. Seeking a strong singer/actor/dancer. Must dance extremely well, including tap. Strong comidic skills a must. Belt.

BILLY CROCKER (mid 20’s–mid 30’s) A young broker employed by Elisa Whitney. He boards the ship without a ticket in pursuit of his true love, Hope. To avoid being caught Billy must adopt a series of disguises. Attractive, charming and funny. Must sing, dance & act extremely well. Must possess excellent comic timing and a gorgeous tenor voice.

HOPE HARCOURT (20’s) A beautiful debutante betrothed to wealthy Englishman Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, but secretly in love with Billy. Beautiful, elegant and charming, but torn between 2 men. Must sing & dance exceptionally well. Sop/Mix.

MOONFACE MARTIN (40’s up) A hapless gangster. Public enemy #13, but trying to move up on the list. Seeking an exceptional comedic actor who sings.

LORD EVELYN OAKLEIGH (40’s) A Wealthy, often bumbling, Englishman engaged to Hope. He loves America and is fascinated by American slang, but doesn’t always get it right. Seeking an actor with an excellent British accent and superior comedic skills. Must be comfortable singing.

ERMA (20’s-30’s) Moonface’s sidekick and right-hand woman. Fun, brassy & flirty. A real good-time girl. Seeking an excellent actor/singer/comedienne. Dance skills a plus. Belt.

EVANGELINE HARCOURT (50’s up) Hope’s haughty, overbearing mother. She is foolish, but also cold and calculating. Seeking a strong comedic actress.

ELISHA WHITNEY (50’s up) Wall Street tycoon and Billy’s boss. An upper class blow hard. Seeking an excellent comic actor who sings.

CAPTAIN (40’s up) A military man and captain of the ship. Mature and authoritative. Must sing. Baritone.

PURSER (30’s) The captain’s nervous lackey. Must sing/dance well. Tap skills a plus.

LUKE & JOHN (20’s-30’s) Seeking 2 actors of Asian descent with strong comedic skills, who sing well. Must tap. Luke is a mischevious gambler, while John is a timid worrier.

FEMALE ENSEMBLE: (20s-30s) Seeking female singer/dancers to play various passengers aboard the ship, including Reno’s Angels. All ensemble members sing & dance extremely well. Highly skilled tap dancers a plus.

MALE ENSEMBLE: (20s-30s) Seeking male singerdancers to play various passengers aboard the ship, including the male quartet. All ensemble members must sing & dance extremely well. Highly skilled tap dancers a plus.
