Breakdown

Annie – Full of hope and optimism at one day being reunited with her real parents. She’s a natural leader and surrogate mom to all the other girls in the orphanage. Tough, simple, gentle, and wise beyond her years.

Miss Hannigan – Abusive caretaker for the NYC Municipal Orphanage for girls. A rather undesirable single woman and former song & dance wanna-be with a dry, ascorbic sense of humor. She’s also a bit of a lush.

Grace – Assistant to Mr. Warbucks. Grace is very “graceful” and very centered with a lovely sense of ease, balance, and compassion for all mankind. She can read people and situations quickly and calmly and she is the calm in the midst of Mister Warbucks storm.

Rooster – Miss Hannigan’s younger brother who is a street-wise con man of the third degree. His name indicates his innate cockiness. He’s a sleazy song & dance crook who’s a slippery slope.

Lily – Rooster’s “moll” with more bleached peroxide in her head than brains. She’s a real second banana comic, song & dance broad who fancies herself as a poster girl for style and fashion.

Daddy Warbucks – A real All American self made billionaire whose passion is the American ideal. Warbucks is a no nonsense, money making capitalist who discovers his heart in Annie’s ineffable innocence.

Franklin D. Roosevelt – Historically accurate character. In the midst of the Depression, F.D.R.’s campaign song was “Happy Days Are Here Again”. His persistent optimism and activism contributed to a renewal of the national spirit.

Drake – Head butler and fastidious head of all of the Warbucks Mansion activities. Excellent singer and really good dancer preferred.

Mrs. Pugh – Head maid with a “motherly touch”. Excellent singer who moves really well.

Adult chorus – The show’s center. Adult actor/singer/dancers who must play a wide variety of character parts from those who inhabit “Hooverville” to the White House Cabinet. From butlers and maids to full out singer/dancers for the “NYC” number. From Apple Sellers to Police officers to Dog Catchers.
