Friday Funday Season Kicks Off Oct. 29 at DM Playhouse

Join the Des Moines Community Playhouse on Oct. 19, 2018, for The Ants and the Grasshopper. This story is part of the 2018-19 season of Friday Funday, a creative paticipatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at the Playhouse, Friday, Oct. 19, at 9:30 AM, 10:45 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length. The performance at 10:45 will have audio description provided by IRIS. Admission is $6 per person, adults and children. In October's featured story, The Ants and the Grasshopper, the ants are busy, busy, busy all day long, working to gather enough food for the long, cold winter ahead. The grasshopper would rather play, dance, and sing. What will happen when the icy winds blow?

Friday Funday performances are held monthly, October 2018-May 2019. This season features a wide variety of fairy tales and fables including The Ants and the Grasshopper, Oct. 19, 2018; Jack and the Beanstalk, Nov. 16, 2018; The Gingerbread Child, Dec. 14, 2018; The Golden Goose, Jan.18, 2019; The Mitten, Feb. 8, 2019; Fin M'Coul, Mar. 1, 2019; Snow White, Apr. 12, 2019; and Goldilocks and the Three Bears, May 10, 2019.

The Playhouse, now in its 100th season, is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
