Contact Lee Ann Bakros, trip coordinator, by phone at 515-974-5358, or register online at dmplayhouse.com. Total trip cost is $2199 per person, double occupancy. The Playhouse's Best of Broadway tour allows travelers to see acclaimed Broadway shows. The packages include round-trip non-stop coach airfare on Delta Airlines from Des Moines to New York City, three nights at the Renaissance Times Square in the heart of the theatre district, and three theatre tickets. Travelers enjoy a relaxing, educational travel experience as John Viars, veteran New York guide, employs his unique knowledge and theatre expertise to lead an unforgettable theatre tour.

On Thursday evening, the group will see the heartwarming new musical "Come From Away." Set on and after September 11, 2001, it follows the stories of 7,000 stranded passengers and the citizens of the small Newfoundland town that took them in. "Come From Away" was nominated for seven Tony Awards.

The group will "The Band's Visit" on Friday night. After a mix-up at the border, an Egyptian Police Band is sent to a remote village in the middle of the Israeli desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel, locals take band members into their homes and their lives become intertwined in unexpected ways. "The Band's Visit" stars Tony Shaloub.

Each traveler chooses the show he or she would like to see Saturday evening.

Best of Broadway tours leave on a Thursday morning and provide plenty of time to explore and shop before returning on a Sunday evening. New York veterans may come and go as they please, while first-timers can opt for a variety of group tours. A selection of dining and sightseeing options, such as a welcome dinner, a scenic and informative Gray Line Bus Tour, and a serene and breathtaking New York Harbor Cruise are offered, each for an additional fee.

The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
