DM Playhouse Hosts SLEEPING BEAUTY Friday Funday
The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents "Sleeping Beauty," today, Apr. 11. This story is part of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at the Playhouse, Friday, Apr. 11, at 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length. Admission is $5 per person, adults and children. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling the Playhouse box office at 515-277-6261.
April's featured story is "Sleeping Beauty." In this classic story, Briar Rose has been enchanted to sleep for 100 years, guarded by thorns and a fierce dragon. A prince is ready to save her, but she just might be ready to save herself!
Performances will have live audio description, provided by Iowa Radio Reading Information Service (IRIS). Audio description can enrich the experience for a wide variety of individuals, including those with limited vision and those with ADHD. Guests should let the ticket office know if they would like to use this free service.
Join the Clubhouse at the Playhouse Gang each month, October-June, as they dramatize a favorite story using their imaginations and the costume pieces and props they find in their magic trunk. Audience members learn the Clubhouse pledge and secret handshake, and listen for the word of the day.
Remaining shows in the 2013-14 season are "The Three Little Pigs," May 16, and a special Friday Funday event, "The Cat in the Hat," June 5-7
The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
