DM Playhouse Adds Performances of Nate the Great 10/23

The Des Moines Community Playhouse has added a performance of "The Adventures of Nate the Great" and "Gooney Bird Greene and Her True Life Adventures" at 4:00 PM on Saturday, Oct. 23. Tickets are for this performance and for the originally scheduled performances, through Oct. 24, can be purchased at The Playhouse ticket office, by phone at 515-277-6261, and online at dmplayhouse.com.

"Gooney Bird Greene and Her True Life Adventures" is based on the books by Lois Lowry. Gooney Bird Greene casts herself as the hero in the most improbable, outlandish stories. Are these stories true? Of course they are because, as Gooney Bird proudly proclaims, she only tells absolutely true stories!

After intermission, the audience will tag along with the sharpest kid detective to ever solve his neighborhood's mysteries. Nate the Great has found lost balloons, books, slippers, chickens, and even a lost goldfish. When his friend Annie calls and asks for his help finding a missing picture of her dog, Fang, Nate is on the case. "The Adventures of Nate the Great," based on the series of books by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
