Triptych Theatre's GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES Begins Tomorrow

By:

Triptych Theatre presents "Gruesome Playground Injuries," by Rajiv Josef, directed by Eric Hunnicutt, and starring Laila Ayad and Jamie Wollrab, running July 10 - 20, 2014.

Over the course of 30 years, the lives of Kayleen and Doug intersect at the most bizarre intervals, leading the two childhood friends to compare the scars and physical calamities that keep drawing them together.

"In Gruesome Playground Injuries, it's love at first sight for Kayleen and Doug. Of course, they're only eight years old, and what fascinates them about each other is that they're both twisted little souls." Lawson Taitte, Dallas Morning News.

Jamie Wollrab has founded two theatre companies that have collectively produced over 50 plays. In 2011 he produced the feature film Leave with Bryan Cranston, 2014 he produced the horror thriller Nightmare Code. He has also directed music videos for bands Hot As Sun (when we fell) and Dead Man's Bones (werewolf heart). As an acting coach, Jamie is currently working on several hit television shows and films.

Laila Ayad is an actor, singer, published author, and founding member of IAMA Theatre Company in Los Angeles, where she currently resides. She was most recently seen as Margot in the Off-Broadway debut of Shiner at Theatre Row in New York, and is currently working with DreamWorks to develop their animated film The Prince of Egypt for the stage. In addition to her many stage roles Laila has been seen in Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, Reception, Exodus Fall.

Eric Hunicutt is a director, actor, writer, and teacher currently based in Los Angeles. Eric's directing work includes plays, short films, sketch comedy, one-person shows, commercials, and new media. Eric is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a member of The Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab.

Rajiv Josef was named a Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist for "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo."

Triptych Theatre is a Los Angeles based company founded by Boulder native Jamie Wollrab. We are inspired to bring dynamic and emotionally engaging plays, along with artists who work in the LA film/TV community, to enjoy a pleasing summer stock experience in beautiful Colorado.
